Ok, how about this for an idea.  We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day.  This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent.  What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme.  I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A".  Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B".  The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man".  However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S".  Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes.  So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.

If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

Some Tom & Jerry

Another Abominable Snowman cover, this time with Jerry Lewis!

A couple of snow covers with Japanese connections.

A very early (1956) Astro Boy comic, published in Japan but set in the Alps.

A wartime adventure of Black Hawk set in Japan, but from a Belgian publisher.  No, not the Blackhawk you were probably expecting.

Two very cluttered snowy covers

On the subject of Japanese covers...

I have enjoyed looking at this thread (along with 3 of a Kind) from the first post onward.

To help out JD DeLuzio (I'm either showing my knowledge or "nerdiness" here...)

♫I'm Chilly Willy the Penguin, I shake until I'm blue.

My head is hot and my feet are cold, Hah-hee, hah-choo!

Now what about the crocodile along the river Nile?

He must be warm as toast, he always seems to smile.

I also know Woody Woodpecker's and a few others, if needed.

As to the current theme, while not from any publication, this is an actual wintery photo from after the last snowstorm this year.

Thanks. He had another song as well, that had the "oh gee oh gosh I'm chilly all the time" line in it. I had to hunt online to confirm that. But I was never much into the Lantz cartoons or comics, for whatever reason. We did watch the Disney tv show and have a number of Disney comics, then licensed to Gold Key. Here are two German Micky Maus mags, featuring the Disney ducks, who seem generally to have fared better than Mickey in print. Mickey was the international media star, but I don't think he ever had anyone like Carl Barks in his corner, comic-book-wise.

Let me guess.  A body was discovered stabbed to death at the bottom of the wall.  There was no weapon found, and no footprints in the snow apart from those left by the dead man.  The only clue to be found was traces of water in the stab wound.

Falling snow...

One more day of snow to come, then we're in January, with the theme of "doppelgangers", to be followed by "movies" in February.  Do we want to start thinking about a theme for March and/or April yet?

Cover-dated January 1939, a really wacky one.
