Ok, how about this for an idea.  We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day.  This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent.  What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme.  I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A".  Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B".  The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man".  However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S".  Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes.  So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.

If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

I have no idea why this George Perez cover was drawn and printed sideways also, but despite all the renumbering over the decades, could any other title at least technically have reached issue 1000 besides Action and Detective Comics at this point in time?

A mere 1000 issues?  What a newcomer!  As I pointed out on the "Three of a kind" discussion:

Peter Wrexham said on May 17, 2020 at 6:41pm:

The Beano has been published weekly since 1938, and issue #4000 came out at the end of August 2019.

To my lasting regret, this is not a George Perez cover!

Action and Detective haven't reached 1000 consecutively-numbered issues any more than Wolverine has reached #900 or Marvel Comics has reached #1000. Action Comics came close, but they blew it when they skipped #905-956.

George Perez' cover is one of several for this 2019 "#1000" non-event.

They must be counting something other than issues of a particular title. GCD doesn't have any notes explaining the numbering.

marvel.fandom.com says that it's a celebration 80 years of Marvel Comics but still doesn't explain the numbering.

Marvel Comics supposedly would have reached 1000 monthly issues in 2019 had it not been cancelled. Issues #88 through #999 were never published but Marvel counted them anyway.

DC emailed me this article celebrating George Perez' art, particularly group shots.

After a couple of paragraphs it is solid artwork.

George Pérez and the Art of the Group Shot

The Red Tornado Unleashed!

George Perez teamed up with Mark Waid on a revival of The Brave and The Bold in 2007, producing interior art for the first 10 and the covers for the initial 12 of its 35 issue run. Personally, I wish the title had made it to 36 for the team up announced at the end of issue 35: Lois Lane and Adam Strange. Would Lois have gone to Rann? Could she have an outer space adventure without involving Superman?

Anyway... below is my favorite cover of the Perez run, for to me, it harkens back to DC's original era/generation of 100 page giants.

I'm amazed that we've got this far through the month without seeing any covers from DC's Who's Who.  No further!

For volume III, I'm particularly fond of the worried looks that Brainiac 5 and Brainwave jr are casting in the direction of Brainwave, Brainiac and The Brain.
