Ok, how about this for an idea.  We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day.  This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent.  What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme.  I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A".  Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B".  The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man".  However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S".  Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes.  So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.

If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

I was offline yesterday and, since today is December 1, here is my last "A" and my first "B". (I wonder why no one has used this series before? Too easy?)

Since I started the last one with A-Man (Animal Man) in Strange Adventures, I'll start this round with B(ee)-Man from Harvey Comics' Double-Dare Adventures. I've never read this, but it's Joe Simon stuff from the Silver Age.

Brave and the Bold #54, first Teen Titans before they got the name.

The unforgettably  forgotten B'Wana Beast and Brother Power the Geek!

Here's my first B.  From 1962.

A great start to the "B"s!    But no Batman yet!  I'll remedy that - here's my favourite Batman cover - from November 1968 - Detective Comics #381. Cover art by Irv Novick. I remember practically snatching this off the spinner when I saw it at my local newsstand!

I used to watch them when they were puppets, before the cartoons.

@Steve: Detective #381 was my first ever Batman comics (and among my first comics of any kind). Great cover!

And no cover collection is complete without some notable contribution from Jack Kirby. Here's his work on the cover of BLACK MAGIC #1 from Oct/Nov 1950.

Black Hood #9 from Winter 1943. Publisher Archie/MLJ.  This cover could have been Irv Novick too. He certainly drew some stories in the Black Hood series.

Here's the cover for the 1972 DC Comics reprint by Jerry Grandenetti.
