Ok, how about this for an idea.  We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day.  This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent.  What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme.  I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A".  Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B".  The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man".  However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S".  Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes.  So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.

If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

Action Comics #310 (Ma'64): Jax-Ur uses Jimmy Olsen to expose Superman to Jewel Kryptonite!

Jimmy Tousseul Vol 2. "The Death Workshop".  More than that I'm afraid I don't know. Love the cover though.

"J" is for ... Jason Blood!

...by Paul Jenkins.

Li'l Jinx #11 (1956) which appears to be the first issue.

I know that I have Showcase #88 (F'70) which began the three issue run of Jason's Quest but I can't remember a thing about them! Most of the late Silver Age Showcase debuts went nowhere or to short-lived series!

I do know that Jason finally found his sister and ended his quest in an issue of Batman: The Brave and the Bold a couple of years back so good for him!

Jesse Custer, Preacher

Jack Kirby & Joe Simon on Justice Traps The Guilty (May/June issue)

Of course - Jimmy Olsen! I totally forgot about Jimmy Olsen! What a boon for the month of August!

I'll start with Jack Kirby's first Jimmy Olsen cover, the story that was completely different to all those that had gone before (most of which I had). I remember reading this when it came out, and thinking "What the hell is going on?"

Jade is the "secret" daughter of the first/Golden Age/Earth-Two Green Lantern, Alan Scott. The circumstances of her birth are very convoluted as is her relationship with her brother, Obsidian. She is a living power ring, in some ways superior to her father.

At first she was portrayed as shorter and more petite than Power Girl and Fury but that changed. She was THE Green Lantern on Earth for a cup of coffee, dated Kyle Raynor, lost her powers, gained plant powers, regained her first set of powers, died, became a Black Lantern then got better!

I miss the "original" Jade.
