Ok, how about this for an idea.  We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day.  This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent.  What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme.  I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A".  Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B".  The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man".  However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S".  Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes.  So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.

If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

Action #1, homage number 21, from 2015.  Since when could Robin do this sort of thing?

More Robin.  Batman and Robin #38 from 2015.

Detective Comics #38 from 1940:

So, we've done Action #1 to death, we've done quite a few versions of X-Men #1 and we've covered Amazing Fantasy #15 a fair few times. It's time to return to Adventure #247.

Here's a fowl parody....

Fowl but hilarious.  HtD was one of my favorite comics back then.

Two comic homages to the first Jaws movie poster

A much earlier, contemporary one with Jaws!

Homage 22 to Action #1, from IDW's Fallen Angel #15, 2007.  Something of a minimalist version, as this cover lacks the bug-eyed guy holding his head generally found in the lower left hand corner.

I've previously posted homages to Justice League of America #21, and covers from British comic The Beano, so when I discovered this parody/mash-up, it was completely irresistible!  The guest-stars from Earth-Beano are Calamity James, Dennis the Menace and his dog Gnasher, Plug, Baby-Face Finlayson ("The cutest bandit in the West"), and Minnie the Minx.

Love that Beano/JLA cover Peter! Absolutely ace!

A couple of homages to Flash #123 from me.

I had this one set to go for tomorrow, but it fits right in with many of today's covers.
