Ok, how about this for an idea.  We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day.  This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent.  What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme.  I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A".  Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B".  The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man".  However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S".  Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes.  So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.

If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

One of my favourite "Logo" covers, in three different incarnations.

The original version from 1967:

Translated into Norwegian in 1968:

Homaged in 1989:

Since most of today's posts seem to be leaning toward being of a more recent "vintage" thus far, this was a variant cover to the issue in question, according to the Grand Comics Database.

Hanging a funeral wreath on the logo!

Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-Man is a good source of this type of cover.

Here are three examples.

Yesterday I lost 8 covers and today I lost 5, neither counting my own posts.

I think we should all self-restrict to a single cover a day.

Especially for the first two weeks!

I'll be happy to restrict to one cover a day, but 1st I've got to catch up with the fact that I didn't post any covers at all for the last two weeks!

I'm going to get in quick with a Spirit cover. I'm sure we'll see many more this month. Will Eisner was an expert at making the logo part of the cover picture.

It seems like a good idea that we should try to exercise a little self-restraint in the number of posts we make each day.  Twelve of "my" covers for the month have already been posted, though I'm a very long way away from being in danger of running out.

I'd just say that it may sometimes be reasonable to multi-post.  For example, I think it was fair enough for me to post the three almost-identical Flash covers at the top of this page, as they really need to be seen together..  However, except in such special cases, I'll try to avoid multi-posting, at least until we're getting a good deal closer to the end of the month.  It would be disappointing to end the month with a large number of good covers unused.

These guys performed on so many albums from the 1960s.

Hulk tends to break up a lot of logos... or is that Todd McFarlane?
