  • R.I.P. Adam West was my Batman. My favorite Batman. I was 11 years old and made sure I saw both episodes every week. I know that some did not like the campyness of that 60's Batman show but I sure liked it. I really liked the episodes where he was kissing Catwoman and he made out that he really did not want to do it but was doing it to give Catwoman a lesson. Right? Burt Ward as Robin sure made those scenes even better where he was almost hiding his eyes and shielding himself from the bad presence of the kissing scene. In other words, Batman was taking one for the team!  LOL

  • I am truly saddened,  Keaton, Clooney, the rest of them - they all PLAYED Batman, some of them quite well. But for me, Adam West WAS Batman.

  • I grew up with his Batman. He rose over the ridicule to regain his career and reached new heights of popularity.

Thank you for the thrills, the quips and the memories!

Keep both hands on the Bat-Rope!

  • Sad news. I'm glad he stayed with us long enough for the pendulum to swing back again to his portrayal of Batman being nearly universally beloved.
  • I will always remember Adam West as Batman saying "To the Batpoles" and "Reverse Batpoles"

What he said. Adam West's Batman was sincere and noble, characteristics the fans value even if the comics creators and TV and movie makers don't.

  • He showed that justice can have a sense of humor about itself.

  • His passing made the front page of both the Sunday New York Daily News and The New York Post. They were respectful, touching and not a bit campy.

I also have been reading his 1994 book Back To the Bat-Cave. Interesting stuff.
