We don't seem to have a thread for this, so I'm starting one.

This is my favorite season so far. They're not dragging anything out -- plotlines develop quickly and move on. They're probably reluctant to drag their feet after being forced to do so in Season One.

Anyone notice that one of the characters in the latest episode was named for Dwight Frye, the actor who appeared in both the original Dracula and Frankenstein?

Apparently Lash is a character from the comics from some post-2010 series that I didn't read. Can anyone school me on him?

Yes, because I'm a geek.  I don't remember which one, though -- since I remember trying to think of why the writers would have done that (other than as an inside joke) and couldn't, I'm guessing it was just a throwaway character.

I kept waiting for some sort of payoff from the name, like it was the transparent alias of someone working for one of Hydra or AIM's mad scientists.

I found this Wikipedia page on him.

Watching the fourth episode, I think I've guessed the secret of TV version.

Last night's Agents of SHIELD was one of the better episodes of the series, IMO. It's entirely focused on Jemma's six-month stay on another planet, her efforts to leave, and what she found there. A great showcase for Elizabeth Henstridge.

And a tribute to the work she and Iain De Caestecker (and the writers) have put into their characters and their relationship that it felt absolutely right that Fitz was the one Jemma would confide in, and that he would react the way he did, even though it had to be breaking both their hearts.  (And mine. {sniff})

In the November 17 episode, "Many Heads, One Tale," when the ancient symbols of hydra and their evolution are displayed one of them was turned upside down. I swear it looked like the Starbucks logo! If intentional, quite a gag.

Here it is.

Following the December 8 episode, Agents of SHIELD will return on March 8. The second season of the Agent Carter show begins on January 19.

I've gotta say, these last five or six episodes -- basically since the Gemma-focused episode -- have really been great -- extremely suspenseful, and even the annoying characters have become a lot less annoying. And since they've just decided to let Ward be an all-out villain, he's one of the most fascinating characters on the series. (Although given the events of the mid-season finale, we'll have to wait and see what the future holds.)

A fantastic episode, all around.

I'm speculating in my next column that Grant could weather this latest development and remain in the cast. He is a great villain!
