I didn't entirely get the intended construction of the jokes in the Sunday Bizzaro (Sp??) strip yesterday .   ( The strip appars to be not online , as it is a King Features Syndicate strip , who - Gasp !!! - appear to think they're in the comics business to make money , and keep their strips behind a wall . )

The joke was " variations on ' I Love New York ' "...but was the panhandler's shirt supposed to be saying " I Owe New York " ?"  I Have Zero , New York " ?

The yokel , in Middle Ages garb...Was his shirt suppost'a mean " I Love York " , as in the English county that New York was indeed named after ??? ( And Prince Charles is now considered the Duke of , if I recall correctly . )

What the heck? He must have stopped going through Diamond, otherwise I would have seen them solicited in the Previews catalogue. (I was afraid of that.) Thanks for the heads up, guys.

"Complete Funky Winkerbean collections (Volume 12 of which has recently dropped…)"

Not sure what he means by "dropped," but I have seen only volumes 1-4 in hardcover (plus the "Lisa's Story" slip-cased set.

I bought volumes 1 and 2. This was the gag-a-day period, which doesn’t appeal to me. I sold those and began collecting with volume 5. I have 5 through 12. Volume 12 shipped last month.

"The two strips have always existed in a shared universe..."

Funky and Crankshaft have been crossing over all week.

A while back, Funky had a time jump. Crankshaft was left behind in time. This week’s strips appear to be ignoring this. The older Funky characters are showing up with the earlier Crankshaft characters.

I've been getting them on Amazon all along.

"I didn't know."

I just discovered that two strips I follow, Crankshaft and Mother Goose and Grimm, have suddenly switched from the King Features site to the GoComics site.

Te Beetle Bailey strip on January 27 had its third strip that includes a female soldier. Her shirt doesn't include pockets but attempts to make it clear she ain't a guy.

Mark Trail honors Southern California's favorite celebrity

He actually traveled to Griffith Park by crossing a couple of freeways and stayed there. I think he finally lost to his last vehicle because he was old and sick. He was smart and never attacked anything other than wildlife until his last, sick days. He was euthanized after it was determined that his injuries and illnesses made it impossible to return him to the wild.

Did Mark trail forget how to shave (or even comb his hair? He never looked that scuzzy back in my day. (Of course, his Sunday strips were never all that interesting either.)

I refuse to accept that that is Mark Trail.

I know. He looks like an idiot, doesn't he?

Maybe it's Rusty, grown up?

Chris Browne, who took over Hägar the Horrible from his father Dik, has died, shortly after the strip's fiftieth anniversary.
