As I have mentioned in the Bi-Weekly TPB thread, Border Mutt has asked me to look after the Bi-Weekly TPB threads temporarily, as he has little access to the internet over the summer.

Currently, we have openings for discussions for the two week period beginning August 3rd, as well as August 31st.  We just need someone willing to pick a TPB and kick off a discussion of it  It could be a series we haven't discussed before, or a another from a series previously discussed.  I would love to see a discussion of Fatale Vol 2 or Saga Vol 2, just to throw a couple of ideas out there.

What say the rest of you?

  • Is there a list of previous TPBs that have been discussed?
  • yes...here

  • Thanks. I'll check my boxes and see if there's anything that wants to be re-read.
  • At the risk of looking like I'm on some kind of Brian Wood kick, I could take the Aug. 31 slot with Demo, the twelve-issue limited series by Brian Wood and artist Becky Cloonan. Sometimes now referred to as Volume One, this is the series originally published by AiT/Planet Lar, then reprinted by Vertigo. I picked up the Vertigo reprint at HeroesCon a few weeks back, so I've been intending to reread it.

  • OK, Mark, that sounds good.  Thank you!

  • Mark, there's a Demo Vol 2 on Comixology, under Vertigo with 6 issues there.  I couldn't find Volume One.  I assume these are different series?

  • Yes, they are different. Volume 2 was a six-issue sequel. I'm surprised Volume 1 isn't there, but I believe that Wood owns the rights, so that might explain it. He has announced an Omnibus edition from Dark Horse later this year. So maybe Volume One is available from Dark Horse's download store? I'll have to check later.

  • I wouldn't mind doing a re-read of American Way by John Ridley.  I could probably have some commentary on it by 8/3.

  • Ok, thank you, Tec.  I'll put you and Mark in those slots.
