... , to avoid a jinx , be on order (topically) now ?????????

I just sent my application to The Awesome Foundation for funding for my proposed documentary on continuity strip , their history and especially their continued life , and the creators and fans of them..." CONTINUE...A COMIC STRIP MOVIE " is my proposed title . It's very much first-steps level .

I do think the continued life of continuity strips deserves attention...Although , frankly , I felt I likely had to explain just WHAT the concept ` and the PHRASE " continuity strip " ~ is that I wrote an attempted heading-it-off apology for a proposal that I suppose may have come across a little " stuffy " and talky , especially considering the subject matter .

Comment from it: " The phrase ' continuity strips " is likely used more by older comics fans , not the ones covered in San Diego coverage and parodied on The Big Bang Theory " . I mention (briefly) the resurgence of " new generation " humor strips in the 1950s as one of the factors in continuities' post-war decline , but I certainly do NOT attempt to set humor and continuities against each other/bash humor strips ! :-)

  • ...When I Yahoo-search (I know , I know...) the term " continuity strip " , singular , a reference to structural concrete joint construction comes up first...and a Mike Lynch cartoons blog post about " Writing A Continuity Comic Strip " second - :-) - although the actual blog post Mike links to does not get there now :-(...When I entered " continuity stripS " , emphasis here  mine(I. e....I typed it " continuity strips " , I was just emphasizing above .) , the same construction one was #1 and Mike's post #3 now , below the images (all construction-oriented) resulted...and , um , two different posts on This Very Round Table by Yours Truly that included the PHRASE in them were both on the first page ! Oh dear . Maybe this would come off a little " snake-swallowing-its-tail "-esque ???????

Furthermore , an outfit called the Continuity Comic Strips , which offers various modern humor strips (Ballard Street , Sherman's Lagoon) for use was the number 2 result under " stripS " . Will they even believe me that it is an established comics fan phrase ????????? Oh well .

  • ...Okay , Wikipedia's article: " Daily comic strip " DOES use the phrase " continuity strips ":-)...

  • I think for comic strips to survive they're going to have to look for someplace else to appear, probably online. Newspapers clearly don't care for them anymore the way comics pages keep shrinking. When Bill Watterson cancelled Calvin and Hobbes I didn't think they could get any smaller, but they did. We aren't going to see any future Alex Raymonds or Hal Fosters in the papers.

  • ...Do you think I come of too much like a " grouchy old poop " with that " not the types of fans/San Diego coverage/Big Bang Theory " comment ? " Grumpy old fans " ????!!:=- ! Oh dear .

  • It's difficult to say what they want. Back when the Danny Ketch Ghost Rider was popular I saw the artist, Javier Satares, at San Diego sitting all alone looking bored, while tables around him with other artists were packed with people. The comic book may have been hot but the artist apparently wasn't.

  • ...Huh . Thank you .

I've never been to San Diego .

When I live in San Francisco , during-around the 00s , and Wondercon was there , I went fairly often (I lived within walking distance of the convention center it was at ~ a bigger , " older-style " city (only 49 square miles , and not much room for expansion) , remember) - but on a limited-budgert level , often-generally?? , buying nothing at all - Not convention center food , neither... have meant to start here some sorta " All-Purpose Con Memories/Observations " thread ut never have ~ Have you been to San Diego in more recent years , since it became " not so much about comics " ?

  • Unfortunately no. The last year I was able to make it there was 1995. I've read it stopped being "so much about comics" right after that, but I've never had the chance to go back and see what's changed.
