Beaking Bad Body Count Poll:

Five episodes from the end of the season, who among these characters do you expect to survive?

Walt
Jesse
Hank
Skyler
Marie
Saul
Gomey
Lydia
Todd
Huell
Badger
Skinny Pete
Walt Jr.
Holly

Quite a list. My suspicion is, once Walt Jr. drops -- probably in one of the next two episodes -- the other dominoes will start falling QUICK.

It took a long time to start watching Breaking Bad. Why would I want to watch a teacher who becomes an illegal drug maker/seller? Finally had to give it a chance when I saw how many people admired the show. Due to the wonders of Netflix we caught up with the first seven seasons in the last year and have watched the eighth as they came out. It sounds like Saul will survive, since they are considering giving him a spin-off show. I really enjoy all of the characters. It will be hard to see them go.

I wonder how much of the Saul Goodman spinoff show that people talk about occasionally is just blowing smoke. I'd honestly be astonished if Saul makes it through alive.

This may be the least predictable show in television history, so I'm going to predict that most of my predictions will be wrong.

With that caveat in mind, here are my guesses -- based on nothing more than gut instinct.

Walt - dies.  Whether it's Lydia and the Czechs, Todd and his neo-Nazi family, Jesse,  or cancer/ Mother Nature/ God/ Fate -- somebody's talking out Walt by the end of the series.

Jesse - dies.  Either by Walt's hand, or possibly his own.

Hank - dies.  Hank's now going to have a difficult time taking Heisenberg down by legal means, so I'm guessing he might "break bad" himself and try to take down Walt by killing him.  And we all know how well that worked out for Gus... and Mike... and Hector... and the cousins... and Tuco... and Krazy-8... and... well, you get the idea.

Skyler - dies.  She keeps getting drawn further and further into Walt's criminal activities, and that never works out well for anyone.

Marie - lives.  Somebody's got to survive to take care of the White kids with Walt and Skyler gone.

Saul - lives.  I think Vince Gilligan is serious about the Better Call Saul series, so obviously he survives.  As Gilligan himself has pointed out in recent interviews, the guy is basically a cockroach who's going to quietly scurry away as all of the chaos unfolds around him.

Gomez - lives.  He takes Hank's position after Agent Schrader dies.

Lydia - lives.  Most people are predicting her death, but like Saul, I think she's enough of a snake to quietly slither away at the end.

Todd - dies.  He's way too dumb to survive the upcoming violence.

Huell - lives.  He's got to be around for Saul's spinoff.

Badger - lives.  This death would be way too cruel, and I don't think Gilligan would go there.  Besides, I'm pretty sure his scene in the premiere was his swan song in the series.  Since season 4, he and Pete have only been making a single appearance each year.

Skinny Pete - lives.  See my Badger explanation.

Walt Jr. - lives.  He's way too much of an innocent, and I can't see Gilligan doing him in.

Holly - lives.  See my Walt Jr. explanation.

I like your reasoning -- but in light of recent events (up through episode 512), I'd almost bet money that Gomey isn't getting out alive. You might be right about Saul and Huell, though.

Walt Jr. is just the sort of innocent I think Gilligan will go for, though -- I think his death is the epiphany Walt needs to see the horror of what he's done.

Yep, judging from this week's cliffhanger, it's really looking like we've seen the last of Gomez (and probably Hank too).

It's also looking like Saul and Huell aren't quite as safe I was predicting.  AMC's just confirmed that they've picked up Better Call Saul, and that it's going to be a prequel set years before Saul hooked up with Heisenberg and Cap'n Cook.

Aha! I was coming here to tell YOU that!

I don't know how long it'll last -- or how long I'd want it to, honestly -- but I bet it'll be fun while it's around!

I guess we'll know next weekend. Gomez, maybe (or probably), but I don't think Hank is going anywhere. As many bullets as were flying in both directions it's amazing that nobody on either side has so much as a scratch yet.

I saw on Headline News today the top 5 WORST toys according to parents.

Among the dolls, were two things I was surprised by,  First was the re-issue of the Hulk Fists, relabeled "Gamma Green Fists" of the Avengers.

The second is an action figure toy lab called "Breaking Bad Lab" so that YOUR kids could practice making Meth and other drugs just like they see on TV.   Can you believe this?

I believe it's a toy, certainly. I don't believe for one minute that it's intended for kids.

Here's a link to a REAL news story (non-hysterical) which shows it and explains it:

Just saw this funny, affectionate tribute to Breaking Bad. They're selling jokes instead of meth. You'll get a kick out of it. Be sure to watch the whole thing.

Joking Bad

Very nicely done. (The pizza killed me.)
