I've mentioned before that I must have the most common tastes in comics in America, because books I have medium or little interest in get canceled with such regularity. (Sometimes books that I DO like are canceled, but often I assumed they would because the premise struck me as insufficiently broad. See: Blue Beetle. But that's a different story.)

In January, I cut back on Marvels. (I had cut back on non-Big-Two in earlier months, and again, that's a different story.) As I did, I found out two books I was dropping had already been canceled (Ms. Marvel and Ghost Rider), and one more was about to be (Cable). In the following couple of months, three more books I had dropped were announced as coming to an end: Deadpool: Merc With a Mouth, Wolverine: Origins and Wolverine: Weapon X.

More than half the books that I dropped in January have ended or are going to. Does this happen to anyone else? Or *gasp* am I CAUSING this? My God! It could be some sort of freakish mutant power!

Hmmm. If so, then I should start watching American Idol, then STOP watching it, so it'll get canceled ...

  • Yes, Cap. Use your power for good. American Idol must die!
  • Wolverine: Weapon X is only kinda being cancelled... It's being relaunched with the same creative team (or at least the same writer) as plain ol' Wolverine.

(The previous book with that title, which was re-dubbed Dark Wolverine, will be staying Dark, with a title shift to Daken: Dark Wolverine.)

Do you know if it's starting over with #1, or will it continue the Weapon X numbering?

Yuch, I hoped that was only temporary. I guess I'm the only one who finds Daken a really tedious and unlikeable character.
  • I find Daken so tedious and unlikeable that I don't even read his comics.
  • I decided to stop reading the current incarnation of Warlord with issue #12 and I see in the latest Previews catalogue it's coming to an end with #16.

Not just you,Cap. Dark Wolverine's sales have gone down quite a bit since the change.
I didn't read either one, so I can't comment on the change.

If I remember correctly (this info comes from what I heard at the X-Men panel at C2E2), it's starting over with a new #1. Dark Wolverine, though, I believe is retaining its numbering.
  • Don't suppose you could think about cancelling Green Lantern?

Or indeed anything written by Mr Evisceration Johns come to that?
  • I was about to drop "The Shield" and "The Web" only to find out they're being cancelled too!
  • I'm sure it happens to many of us. Books are usually canceled because people are dropping them so it's no surprise that a book you drop is canceled soon after. That being said- Cap, I think you're probably more prescient than the rest of us.
