Chicago Fire

I've gotten into watching Chicago Fire this season. It's from the Dick Wolf factory, but somehow isn't about detectives and prosecutors in New York City, like Law & Order and it's brethren. It's about, well, firefighters in Chicago, specifically those in Firehouse 51.

Firehouse 51 houses Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61 and Battalion 25. Unlike the Law & Order shows, Chicago Fire delves into the personal lives of the men and women at the station in and around the fires and traffic accidents and rescues. It can get a little soap-operaish, but overall, it's pretty strong.

The main story in last week's episode, dealt a neighborhood kid who was playing around and fell into and was trapped in a laundry chute in an apartment building just blocks away from the firehouse. I saw the ending coming five miles away, and I was still bawling like a baby when I saw it. Four hankies, definitely:  "A Coffin That Small"

  • ...A title like that rather gives away the ending...Does the series have on-screen appearance oof the episodes' titles ? (I don't see modern-day primetime series , generally .) Do other shows ?

  • Chicago Fire doesn't put its titles on screen. The only modern-day series I know of that does that is the Star Trek shows.

  • ...Thank you . Funny , that , considering how newspaper listings (and on-line promos ?????) give titles for sit-coms , even , like FRIENDS .
