CAPTAIN VICTORY AND THE GALACTIC RANGERS #1 (Dynamite, $3.99): One of the late -- and legendary -- Jack "King" Kirby's final creations was Captain Victory and the Galactic Rangers, which, sadly, was not one of his best. Captain Victory was pleasant enough hoo-ha, but it was simplistic, shallow and derivative. However, Dynamite has handed the job of reviving the concept to offbeat writer Joe Casey, and it looks like he will only retain the names from Kirby's original -- and perhaps the envelope-pushing spirit of "The King."
DOOMED (DC Comics): In "Doomed," Superman has been infected with a disease that is turning him into the monster Doomsday. That storyline heats up this week, with chapters in Action Comics #34 ($3.99), Action Comics Annual #3 ($4.99) and Superman/Wonder Woman Annual #3 ($4.99).
SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #32 (Marvel, $4.99): If you've been following Spider-Man for the last year, you know he was kicked out of his own body by the dying Dr. Octopus -- only to return in triumph to reclaim his body (and his life) in Superior Spider-Man #31, which continued into Amazing Spider-Man #1. So if Peter Parker's mind is his own, how can Superior Spider-Man the series, and the "Superior" Spider-Man (Peter Parker's body with Doc Ock's mind) return in this issue? Beats me, but it's been a delightful story so far, and this will also lead into the big "Spiderverse" event, so it's probably a good time to jump on board.
TERMINAL HERO #1 (Dynamite, $2.99): Dynamite is taking a page from the Image playbook, with a new line of creator-driven titles. This one is written by unpredictable and often gender-bending writer Peter Milligan (Shade the Changing Man, Enigma, X-Statix), involving a young man dying from an inoperable brain tumor, who tries an experimental treatment that turns him into ... something else.
THANOS: THE INFINITY REVELATION (Marvel, $24.99): The Big Bad of the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy movies gets his own original graphic novel, wherein he teams up with his arch-enemy, Adam Warlock, to do something that isn't awful. Whatever could possibly motivate Thanos, who worships Death, to do something that isn't awful has got to be some kind of terrible!

Cooking is mentioned, as is eating, but it doesn't seem to be the typical variety. In fact, I have no idea what this is about. Is it kaiju?
Sure, why not?

But while she's striving to earn the respect of her fellow cast members and the director, she's falling dangerously behind in school! There seem to be a lot of “voice actor” stories about these days, also.

Shimura Takako's critically acclaimed Wandering Son continues to explore gender identity among its cast of middle school students in our 7th volume. Nitori-kun gets his first signs of acne and Chiba-san and Nitori-kun are scouted by the theater club after the success of their gender-bending play, The Rose of Versailles. This Manga series about two middle schoolers wrestling with their gender identities has struck a deep chord with readers all over the world.
LGBT in middle school. What will they think of next?
There is a famous all-female theatrical group called the Takarazuka Revue Company. The Rose of Versailles is one of the more popular stories they do. The women who play the lead parts (both male and female) have fairly substantial female fan clubs (not especially lesbian fans, as I understand it), so this is doubtless a reference to that.

And here's this week's grand prize winner, featuring both LGBT and food!
Are there, like, a lot of restaurants in Japan with amazing window treatments? Do they have a TV show titled Fabulous Chef? Do the mariachi bands in Tokyo play show tunes?
Honestly, folks, the jokes just write themselves.

EARTH 2 #26 What an unexpectedly great series this has turned out to be. I also love the design on the new Superman.
MOON KNIGHT #6 Ellis and Shalvey's last issue, and mine as well. If I hear good things about Wood's run, then I'll buy it in trade.
NEW AVENGERS #22
ROCKET RACCOON #2 I just loved that movie so much.
SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #32 EOSV YES! I had no idea this was coming out already!
Batman '66 Meets The Green Hornet #3; Yes, this series is indeed AWESOME. One of the few comics that make collecting worthwhile again.
On the subject of--Dynamite Comics: Yes, they had a golden opportunity to continue with GRRM's Wild Cards, even if they had picked up from the reprint/closeout of the series The Hard Call. But it seems, like Moonstone did with the World of Darkness comics, they produced enough of certain titles to establish themselves or generate enough revenue to launch other titles.
As for Marvel making Angela from Image, Thor's 'lost' sister; These days, nothing surprises me from them. I continue to be relieved that I long-since left Marvel behind.
