Superstar creators unite for the final issue of the series! First, a Superman/O.M.A.C. team-up as only Jerry Ordway and Steve Rude can deliver! Then, when Lois Lane gets Superman a mystery gift for Valentine’s Day, Superman speculates with his friends about what it could be – and what he should get her in return! Finally, Superman is confronted by a ghost from Krypton! Don’t miss out!
Final issue? Too bad. Adios, red panties.
Also, here's the answer to all those who say DC would do better to write and draw stories like those of their youth (or just reprint those stories endlessly). Sorry, guys, the upbeat, charming, square-jawed heroism of the Silver Age just doesn't sell any more.

The wild and untamed climax to Sonja’s epic journey to collect the six most gifted individuals of her age … but will she give them over to the sadistic emperor, as she promised?
With this issue, writer Gail Simone extended her run
"I have always said that the thing that makes Red Sonja MOST dangerous is not her skill with a sword, or her speed," states acclaimed writer Gail Simone. "It's her cunning. Red Sonja is cunning. And she gets what she wants. When I first agreed to write Red Sonja, I wanted to do one great Sonja story and drop the mic (assuming of course that the story didn't suck and people instead started throwing things at me). So I wanted to do six issues. Then I started writing her, and she just got very controlling about it, frankly. I went from doing six issues to agreeing to twelve. I went from doing one Sonja book to two, adding the wonderful LEGENDS OF RED SONJA with some of my favorite female writers. Then I went from two Sonja books to three, in agreeing to do CONAN VS. RED SONJA. I kinda got greedy. So Dynamite have generously kept me on for an extended tour of more issues of mayhem, blood, sex, and red hair, because Sonja is Sonja, and Sonja is hard to turn down. Because Sonja is CUNNING."
"We couldn't have found a better partner for the She-Devil with a Sword than Gail." states Dynamite CEO and Publisher Nick Barrucci. "It was last year at Emerald City Con that we announced Gail on the series, and it's only fitting that we announce her extending her run at this year's Emerald City Con! When she showed up at the panel, with a sword in hand, we knew that her passion would bring out some of the best stories we would ever have, and she proved us right. We're really grateful that Gail is extending her run on the series."
Check out the incredible reviews Dynamite has received for Gail Simone's Red Sonja!
"Gail Simone's script has a ton going on but gives the characters strong speeches and a plot that's got a touch of Shakespeare in it." -- Newsarama
"In an interesting twist of events, it isn't brawn and a sword that save the day. There are different kinds of strength, and Simone emphasizes that more subtle forms of defiance are every bit as powerful as the more obvious." -- IGN Comics
"The character of Red Sonja herself is Gail Simone in comic book form. Strong, clever, funny and defiantly in charge of her own destiny. And those covers by Jenny Frison, beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Raise your glasses to Red Sonja, all hail Red Sonja." -- Geeked Out Nation
"Gail Simone has crafted a stellar first arc that deliver on all fronts." -- Comic Book Therapy
Gail Simone got her start in comics writing for Bongo Comics, home of The Simpsons. Following her time there, Simone entered the mainstream comics world with a run on Marvel Comics' Deadpool, and later, Agent X. Gail is best known for known for runs on DC's Birds of Prey, Secret Six, Welcome to Tranquility, Wonder Woman and Batgirl.
You really have to love Gail Simone.

FC • 32 pages • $3.99
Acclaimed British military science-fiction author Karen Traviss reignites the G.I. JOE franchise with an all-new series. Filled with the kind of gritty realism fans of the author have come to expect, this new take on G.I. JOE is guaranteed to please followers of the classic property and comic readers experiencing it for the first time.
The world has changed and so must G.I. JOE -- led by Scarlett, the once-revered G.I. JOE team faces an unthinkable reality where Cobra has become an unlikely peacekeeping task force. Utilizing real-world dangers and politics, this is a G.I. JOE comic the likes of which has never been seen.
“Karen understands the world of men and women in the military,” says IDW Senior Editor John Barber. “She gets what their reality is like -- which is why she’s held in such high regard by veterans, as well as fans of character-driven action."
Traviss guides an all-star squad of talent on this monthly series starting with fan-favorite artist Steve Kurth on interior art. With a keen eye for design, Jeffery Veregge provides striking covers to the series. The first issue will feature a subscription variant cover by Cliff Chiang.
"When John [Barber] asked me to write the series, it was one of those spooky coincidences,” said Traviss. “I'd literally just finished writing a scene for my new novel, GOING GREY, where two of the characters -- vets now serving as private military contractors -- discuss whether having G.I. Joe and Action Man as boys, influenced their choice of career. G.I. Joe is still that iconic after 50 years, because it's about people, and it's never shied away from the human reality of warfare. I'm genuinely delighted to have the chance to work on the franchise."
• Real-world action and politics collide … and nothing will be the same.
• THE FALL OF G.I. JOE BEGINS! Hard-hitting real-world action!
• Foil-enhanced cover!
• Variant Cover by David Williams!

I'd wager that more artists know how to draw mid-1960s William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy than any other actors!

WHEELJACK REBORN! After months unconscious, WHEELJACK awakens to find a strange, new CYBERTRON! STARSCREAM rules -- OPTIMUS PRIME has made peace with MEGATRON -- and WINDBLADE controls the city. What’s a scientist to do … but uncover the greatest mystery in TRANSFORMERS history?
A great jumping-on point for new readers. With Zoey and several of her roommates possible suspects in the murder of Mandy Jenkins, Uncle Zeke is taken off the case to avoid a conflict of interest. Meanwhile, Zoey meets her 'fan' for the first time without masks.
Image Comics and Top Cow are pleased to announce that Larime Taylor and Sylv Talor will return this September to the killer storyline that fans can’t get enough of in A VOICE IN THE DARK: GET YOUR GUN #1 … and this time, the blood splatter will be in full color.
In this first issue, Zoey's killed again, and another killer knows her secret, but is he a potential friend or foe? She got away with murder the first time, but things won't be so easy this time around. A vengeful father with a friend on the force is out for retribution, and no one -- not even Uncle Zeke -- can protect Zoey from his wrath.
The series makes the jump to color with cover colorist Sylv Taylor doing interiors as well. The disabled husband and wife team provide an easy entry point for new readers in this first issue of a five part miniseries.
"There's a 'story so far' page at the front of every issue,” said Taylor. “And Sylv's muted colors keep the spirit of the noir feel from the first arc while making it more accessible to a wider audience."

THE FADE OUT #1 (2ND PTG)
Writer: ED BRUBAKER
Art: SEAN PHILLIPS
"Brubaker and Phillips's books have always been about eight years ahead of their time." -- Brian K. Vaughan
"Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips are the gold standard of the crime graphic novel." -- Warren Ellis
THE FADE OUT #1, the debut of the latest series from Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips, and Elizabeth Breitweiser, uncontested noir masters, has sold out immediately at the distributor level with fans, media, and top industry professionals praising the series as the hottest new crime book on shelves.
"This is amazing. I'm totally overwhelmed. I mean, really, whoever thought me and Sean's most lo-fi idea, a noir within the world of noir films, would be our biggest hit ever?" said Brubaker.
Set in 1940s Hollywood, THE FADE OUT begins with a suspicious murder and kicks off an intricate mystery involving a noir film stuck in endless reshoots, a writer plagued with nightmares from the war and a dangerous secret, and a maniacal studio mogul and his security chief who will do anything to keep the cameras rolling before the Post-War boom days come crashing down.
The series launched with a 40-page issue that featured exclusive back page articles. For fans wishing to experience noir fiction in true ‘40s style, an oversized "movie magazine replica" variant edition with 8 extra pages of behind-the-scenes art and articles graced store shelves as well. “I dug The Fade Out by Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips, Elizabeth Breitweiser and Image Comics so much, I had to buy both versions,” tweeted Tony Guerrero, Editor-in-Chief of ComicVine.
Entertainment Weekly featured THE FADE OUT #1 on its “Must List” while IGN called it “Mad Men but with more sex and murder.” Paste Magazine said of the debut, “Hollywood has never looked so dark, so sinister and so seductive. It’s a story that only a Brubaker/Phillips comic could tell.”
In an in-depth interview with USA Today Brubaker hinted, “Everybody wanted to come to Hollywood and be rich and famous, and very few people are going to get rich and famous. There's going to be a lot of people dashing themselves against the rocks.”
I cannot wait for the trade! Woo hoo!

LOW #3 picks up with Stel Caine's effort to save mankind. She's going to do the unthinkable, something that hasn't been done in millenia: walk on the Earth's surface. But before she can rise from the depths of the ocean, she must first help her son rise from the suffocating emotional darkness in which he wallows.
"We're thrilled by the incredible reaction, it's more than we could have hoped for,” said Remender in response to the news of issue #2’s sell-out and 2nd printing. “Low has been years in the making so seeing all the hard work paying off, it's wonderful. Many thanks to the faithful readers and retailers for the huge support."
The first printing of LOW #2 has completely sold out at the distributor level, but may still be available in comic stores. ROCHE LIMIT #1
Story: MICHAEL MORECI
Art / Cover: VIC MALHOTRA
32 PAGES / FC / T+ / $3.50
“OUR DESTINY IS THE STARS, AND I WILL LEAD US THERE.”
Michael Moreci (HACK/SLASH: SON OF SAMHAIN, HOAX HUNTERS) teams up with Vic Malhotra (X-Files: Year Zero, Thumbprint) to bring readers an all-new science-fiction crime mystery series. Blending 2001: A Space Odyssey with Blade Runner, ROCHE LIMIT is the first part of a bold sci-fi/noir trilogy.
“Our destiny is the stars, and I will lead us there.” Twenty years after this promise, billionaire Langford Skaargard’s dream of cosmic exploration is no more. Roche Limit, a colony situated on the cusp of a mysterious energy anomaly, has become a melting pot of crime and terrible secrets. When Bekkah Hudson goes missing, the search to find her will plunge her sister and a cadre of the colony’s underworld figures into an odyssey that reveals a bleak future for humanity.
“The entire creative team is really encouraged by the tremendous response to Roche Limit so far,” said Moreci. “Commercially and creatively. It’s been great, and we hope to make its release equal to its buildup.”
A mix of hard-boiled noir crime and hard science fiction, ROCHE LIMIT is the beginning of a gritty and bold new science fiction noir series that has something for every reader.
"This is a book I feel like I was meant to write,” said Moreci. “If you like great sci-fi, and if you love a good mystery, you cannot miss Roche Limit."

The Spider-Verse inches ever closer as every Spider-Man from every universe prepares for multiversal war against a common foe. Today, Marvel is proud to present your first look at EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE #3 – the next chapter is the blockbuster 5-issue mini-series showcasing a new creative team and new spider character each issue! Rising star Dustin Weaver (INFINITY, Avengers) pulls triple duty as he writes, draws and colors a brand new creation – Dr. Aaron Aikman: Spider-Man!
“Unlike Peter, he chose to be Spider-Man,” says Weaver of his new creation, in an interview with Marvel.com. “He did it himself, to become a hero for his city. I guess that says a lot about the character of my Spider-Man. He’s got a big ego and being good at being Spider-Man is a point of pride. He doesn’t struggle with responsibility. He enjoys it. Other than his origin being different, he also has a completely different cast of supporting characters and villains.”
As Aikman dons the helmet of his Spider-Man suit composed of bleeding-edge technology, he confronts the evil that plagues his New York City. As the villainous Red Eye and Naahmurah wreak havoc on his world, only Spider-Man stands capable of saving the day! But is he prepared for the onslaught of Spider-Verse and the coming of Morlun? Find out when the wildly imaginative sci-fi Spider-Man makes his debut in EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE #3 this September!
Plus, don’t miss out on these exciting Edge of Spider-Verse tie-in issues of your favorite ongoing series:

They'd have tried to kill each other on page two, panel one, and never stopped trying until only one was left. Having them on the same team for 30 issues takes all of them so far out of character that I had no interest in reading this -- now, or ever.
Hopefully this storyline brings down the curtain on this abomination, and good riddance.
On September 24th – arriving in stores alongside the action-packed final confrontation between X-O Manowar and the Armor Hunters in ARMOR HUNTERS #4 (of 4) – look for ARMOR HUNTERS #3 (of 4) SECOND PRINTING by New York Times best-selling writer Robert Venditti (X-O Manowar) and superstar artist Doug Braithwaite (Unity); and the ARMOR HUNTERS: BLOODSHOT #1 (of 3) SECOND PRINTING and ARMOR HUNTERS: BLOODSHOT #2 (of 3) SECOND PRINTING by acclaimed writer Joe Harris (Great Pacific) and bone-breaking artist Trevor Hairsine (X-Men: Deadly Genesis)!
Re-presenting four essential chapters of the armor-plated crossover that Comic Vine calls "an event that lives up to the hype," it's not too late to find out why ARMOR HUNTERS is the heat-seeking storyline that's had fans and critics talking all summer.
"From start to finish, ARMOR HUNTERS has been nothing short of a resounding success with fans, and we're continuing to see demand for each issue as the storyline rushes toward its must-be-seen-to-be-believed finale at the end of September," said Publisher Fred Pierce. "The first two issues of ARMOR HUNTERS – along with UNITY #8 and X-O MANOWAR #26 – have already returned to press, and we couldn't be more proud to now add another four titles to that list. With another month to go, ARMOR HUNTERS is already well on its way to becoming one of the most well-remembered and affecting crossovers in recent memory. This is precisely the kind of storytelling, scope, and scale that is setting Valiant apart in the industry."
When Aric of Dacia returned to Earth with the stolen X-O Manowar armor of an alien race, he thought he finally found a weapon to guard the peace and kingdom he’d struggled so long to secure. But now, a relentless and surgical strike team from the farthest reaches of space – sworn to exterminate the armor and all like it – have found their final target. The Armor Hunters are coming. They will hunt. They will trap. They will kill. And they will rid the universe of the X-O Manowar’s incalculable destructive power…even if it means taking the Earth with it.
Just as ARMOR HUNTERS # 4 (of 4) and ARMOR HUNTERS: AFTERMATH #1 hit stores, get a front row seat for the devastating consequences of the Armor Hunter's attack in the ARMOR HUNTERS #3 (of 4) SECOND PRINTING, ARMOR HUNTERS: BLOODSHOT #1 (of 3) SECOND PRINTING, ARMOR HUNTERS: BLOODSHOT #2 (of 3) SECOND PRINTING, and ARMOR HUNTERS: HARBINGER #1 (of 3) SECOND PRINTING – on sale in September and October!

This is the first Joe series that has sounded interesting to me!

Cover B: BEN TEMPLESMITH
32 PAGES / FC / M / $3.99

Woo hoo!

THUNDERBOLTS #31
Writers: BEN ACKER & BEN BLACKER

Cover by DAVID YARDIN
32 PGS./Parental Advisory / $2.99
THE PUNISHER VS. THE THUNDERBOLTS, PART FIVE!
• Finally! The fight you’ve craved since Thunderbolts #1 -- RED HULK vs. PUNISHER!
• Soldier/monster vs. soldier/killer for the fate of the Thunderbolts team!
As I've said before, none of these characters could have worked together for even a single issue.
