The Incredible Hercules #135: We switch back to young Adric Amadeus in a traditional "things are not what they seem" scenario, with a not too surprising revelation at the end, and then - Aunt May? Superman - Secret Origin #1: I see, so, we're going with a "whiny teen soap opera" version of the origin, are we? And Lana's the one who knows his secret, not Pete? Oh, well, the art's real nice. Final Crisis Aftermath: Dance #5: You know, I keep waiting for this book to show what's going on - they've only got one more issue to do it. Well, at least there's an almost-interesting revelation at the end. Books with "Final Crisis" in their titles are now in the "people who won't leave even though the party's been over for hours" category. The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror #15: Ooh, what a letdown. I usually enjoy the heck out of these, but this one really wasn't very good at all. the stories and the art were all kind of lame. They seem to have been written by people who read an episode guide but have never actually seen the show. The Amazing Spider-Man Sketchbook/Astonishing X-Men Sketchbook: This was free. Apparently, the Spider-Villains are being re-invented and Phil Jimenez likes drawing mutants. Wednesday Comics #12: And so, this experiment ends, and what have I learned? That I would buy a Gibbons/Sook Kamandi book if they put one out. That's about it.

  • I liked the Superman book...but I also kinda like a lot of whiny stuff (see: thirtysomething). And, c'mon, that last page didn't make you laugh? It was very Ralphie in the pink bunny suit...

I am enjoying the HECK out of Pak's return to Incredible Hulk. Bruce, who can't change into the Hulk anymore, is training his son, Skaar, to achieve his ultimate goal...kill the Hulk. Now, I don't for one minute believe that Bruce really hopes that Skaar can kill him...but through this training is actually setting him up to be a hero. Skaar being very Conan is a running joke...and Bruce even takes him to a comic shop to let him Byrne-steal some old Conan issues. Anyway, Bruce blows up Juggernaut's mobile home...which was full of stolen money...so that Skaar can have a "play date" with Juggy. Funny stuff...

I don't get that reference, I'm afraid. I'm assuming it's something to do with A Christmas Story, which I have never seen.
  • Bill does one of those old comic strip fall/faint out of the panel things
  • And I've never read any Carl Barks Donald Duck comics, either. :)
  • CHOKE!
  • But I bet I've read alot of stuff you've never looked at, either.

TNT runs A Christmas Story every year on Christmas Eve in a 24-hour marathon. One year I watched just because I had never seen it; having done so, I need never see it again. That itch has been scratched.
  • Being from and in the midwest...I see it at least twice every Christmas, my sister proudly displays her leg lamp, and it is constantly quoted during the holidays...

According to my sister, they ended up showing it at the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon this past year just so the UK students knew what the Americans kept quoting all through December...
  • I did Byrne-steal the final part of Old Man Logan...Millar actually tied it into his FF run...OK, that was mildly cool...
  • I've been listening to episodes of Jean Shepherd's radio show on the way to work the last several mornings.
