  • I very rarely ever buy big, complicated superhero "event" comics anymore, and when I do I almost never buy any of the ancillary off-shoots and/or one-shots, but I made an exception in this case because every such series needs its own version of "The History of the DC Universe." (That's where Flashpoint/New52 went wrong in my estimation: no handbook.) I was wondering whether or not this one-shot jibed with The Multiversity Guidebook and you've saved me the trouble of checking it out for myself. (Thanks.) there's no real story here: it's just an issue-long slugfest of the flash and the Anti-Monitor punching each other across dimensions. The real purpose of this book is to provide the list of known universes identified above.

  • I bought it for the looks at alternate worlds, myself.  I probably would have resented a substantial story.

  • I assume this will be part of whatever omnibus I eventually buy.

  • One would think so.

  • But in the meantime, I can stay current, thanks to you!

  • I'm looking forward to this. That's quite a list!

  • The conceit that even one-off alternate worlds from the Silver Age have their own universes supports the Hyperverse concept that everything we've ever read happened somewhere.

  • Yeah, it kinda warms the heart!

  • Oh, Baron... in reprinting the list of alternate worlds, you left out the best part! Barry's notes say he used the comics of Earth-33 (basically the former Earth Prime) as a resource for seeking out these various universes.

He basically used our world as an index! He supersped through our comic collections reading Wonder Woman: Amazonia or whatever just to have an idea where to catalog the worlds! And he picked up books for his OWN collection, because BARRY IS A COMIC COLLECTOR.

I mean, he has been from the start, but that hasn’t been touched on for decades! I’m *so* happy about that. It means Superboy Prime isn’t the only comic collector in the DCU — there are happy, well-adjusted ones, too.

    There’s hope for us all.

  • I completely  missed that.
