  • It looks like they're giving Captain Cold natural ice powers. Troubling.

They also are taking another stab of "upgrading" Captain Marvel for the DCnU. More troubling.

A new origin for Harley Quinn and "it ain't pretty". More more troubling.

The first chapter of the next TPB for ALL the titles. Most troubling.

None of the 52 have been cancelled. A bit surprising.

Night Force #1 of 6. By Marv Wolfman. Hmmmm....

  • They should have Captain Cold be the avatar of an Arctic Elemental, and not mention Alan Moore in any of the credits at all.  :-)

    Troubling.

    Most troubling.

    Also:

None of the 52 have been cancelled.

Perhaps all these comics are doing well with a fairly new audience, and DC have left us old guys behind, at last.

If so, to quote the above:  "It aint pretty."

  • If they are that successful, great. But they all can't be selling as well as Justice League or any of the myriad Batman, Green Lantern, X-Men, Avengers books. And DC said that they were going to be very agressive in cancelling the poorer selling titles. I really can't believe that Mister Terrific, Batwing, Grifter, Deathstroke, Men of War, Blackhawks and Voodoo are performing well enough to go for another 6 issues.

If they are, why talk about a second wave of titles?

  • There was that interview with the marketing guy, who said they were very happy that they are only considering axing some of these after 8 issues rather than after 4 (which they were seemingly initially prepared to do).  The sales are probably strong on most of them by pre-September standards anyway.

It would have looked bad in any case if they'd axed a slew of them after only 4 issues.  Some people (not far from this keyboard I'm sitting at) would have crowed that it was all too half-baked and hair-brained to succeed.

To be less cynical, DC owes something to the creators involved, as they all jumped feet-first into DiDio's hairbrained scheme, and no doubt have a lot emotionally and creatively invested in these new stories and characters.  At least DC will have a number of complete storylines, possibly in trade form, by the time they start swinging the axe, and won't have horribly alienated a bunch of their creators.

Several of these stories, even the ones you mention, could be quite good, or slow burners, or interesting in some way or contribute to the new status quo, so they might be worth finishing up as complete stories, at least.

  • ...Wasn't he much-dissed here (And which I haven't seen) Red Hood series um , " retooled " , into a mini/6-isher even before its initial release date ?????????

  • Apparently its sales were boosted, by all the liberals complaining about it....

  • ...It was " too sexy " ( I WON'T SAY IT !!!!!!!!! ) , no ?????????

  • If by ' too sexy' you mean 'too offensive' then yeah..

  • If they want to keep the titles to build an audience, that's good news. If they truly believe in the creators' efforts, that's wonderful. If they want at least two HCs/TPBs from each book before moving on, knowing there's no future for them, that's bad.

And if they do keep all 52, it will be hard to support ten or more(a very rough guesstimate from various sources) new titles at the same time!

  • If ever a title needed cancellation.....
