The current story arc ended with #870. I was impressed with the work of David Hine and Scott McDaniel. I'm glad that Batman is starring in Detective again. Gotham City was torn apart by roving Joker and Batman "gangs", all part of a very sinister plan.

The mastermind behind this a Joker look-alike named Winslow Heath. He was, to put it bluntly, collateral damage in the war between Knight and Clown. He has a truly horrifying origin with his madness and motivation being understandable, psychopathic and really bizarre.
Since DC has already let us know that Dick will continue as Batman (for now), perhaps it's time for a new Joker as well. Heath definitely qualifies though he hates the Joker as much as he does Batman. Surprisingly Heath is not caught and the last page was unsettling. Can DC "retire" the old Joker for this newer model? It would be interesting to see!
