It's been yers since I watched this show regularly; so, I thought I'd tune in tonight. The episode had (spoiler) Bart in a coma, seeing dead people. Maude Flanders figured prominently. Others yiu may remember as having passed on appeared, as well as Marge's sister Patty (As a ghost). Did they kill off this charactor, or are the writters simply inviting chatter?

I found this page on Deaths on the Simpsons, and while I found six mentions of Patty, most of the deaths were on Treehouse of Horror episodes, and the only other mention was a death she and Selma inadvertently caused.
I did the search too. It's looking like the season finale is meant to inspire chatter (if you still care about this show. I do; but at the same time, enough is enough).

I don't think they have; at least, it's not mentioned on Wikipedia, which I'd expect to be fairly up-to-date on something like that.
But I don't watch it regularly, either. And I'm as likely to see a rerun as a new episode these days.
