Fresh off AP wire!

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Walt Disney Co. says it is acquiring Marvel Entertainment Inc. for $4 billion in cash and stock, bringing characters like Iron Man and Spider-Man into the Disney family.
Under the deal, Disney will acquire ownership of 5,000 Marvel characters.
Disney said Monday that Marvel shareholders will receive $30 per share in cash plus 0.745 Disney shares for every Marvel share they own.
It said the boards of Disney and Marvel have both approved the transaction, but it requires an antitrust review and the approval of Marvel shareholders.

Somebody from one of the local TV stations did a report last night from the comic shop I frequent -- Fantom Comics, in Union Station in Washington! Yay!
I thought there would be a link to the video of the report, but what's there is just a transcript. I don't understand the headline, because it comes totally from nowhere, but at least it's not "POW! ZAP! WHAM!": "DC Comics Enthusiasts Split On Marvel Deal"

DC meaning District of Columbia, no? Pretty poor word choice.

I never read it that way ... !
Note that they've now changed the headline.

There are two things in that headline I'm rarely see that conspire to make it confusing. First, it's up-style, not down-style (meaning all the major words are uppercase, like in a book title). Up-style started going out of style at least 20 years ago. Also, it doesn't follow Associated Press style and put periods in D.C. Either would have helped. The solution, to smoosh "comicbook" into one word, which it isn't, is all the more peculiar.

I miss editors (and I am one).
Off-Topic...

"Comic book" has traditionally been two words but Stan Lee says it should be one--"comicbook"--and that's good enough for me!
This is my favorite so far. It combines a recent Marvel purchase with the purchase of Marvel:

Great, now I have an image of "Kid Mickeyman" going on a rampage...

That would be Kid Mortyman

Shouldn't that sign on the door read "Inhuman Resources"?

But Hank McCoy is a mutant, not an Inhuman!

But the way they are treating him is inhuman...
