A nice haunted house story, here, atmospheric and creepy. Another episode that they couldn't have done well before CGI.

David Suchet was good as the Landlord, pathetic and sinister at the same time.

More clues as to who's in the Vault, but nothing definite. Lots of speculation on-line as to who it could be, I have no theories, myself.  Moffat is saying that we'll know by episode six.

"Sleep is for tortoises." A callback to "The Talons of Weng-Chiang"!

Overall: an enjoyable episode. I've been enjoying this season so far.

  • I am ejoying this season so far, too... I daresay it's shaping into my favorite of the Capaldi series. If it keeps up this momentum, it will be a shoo-in. I think they over-advertised Bill's sexual preference prior to the season. It's just not that important (nor should it be).

  • Man, that was creepy.

The Lad has just discovered Suchet's Poirot and is really loving it.  I wonder if he'll twig to the Landlord's "secret identity."  (I'm not sure he watches credits very much.)

  • Another thng I liked about this episode was Bill's relationship with the Doctor... quite a change from the recent series of "boyfriend Doctors." Odd, too, to hear her refer to him as "grandfather."
