1)Ah, "Planet of the Ood", or, "The Sensorites" re-visited.  Well, the show does so many stories about "humans menaced by aliens", it needs the occasional story about "Aliens menaced by humans." I like the Ood as critters, although I question how beings as the "wild" Ood are shown to be could possibly evolve. Be that as it may, the scene where Ryder falls into the big brain is quite creepy . However, the scene where Halpen turns into an Ood is just about the grossest tihng I've ever seen in Doctor Who.

2)Some good heels in this- Halpen is a nice, jolly heartless capitalist, amd Solan makes an interesting PR - nice swerve on the scen where you almost think she's going to do a face turn but then rats them out.  Kess was quite good, too, as the sadistic slave driver.

3)So, the Ood and the Sensorites live in the same solar system? Interesting neighborhood.

4)Another good performance from Tate, here, showing he rmoral indignation at the treatment of the Ood.

5)Some fun quotes:

  • "Why'd you say 'miss'? Do I look single?"
  • "The circle must be broken. "By and by, Lord, by and by?
  • "Enjoy your Ood."  Part of this nutritious breakfast!
  • "Doctor, Donna, friends!"
  • "You murdered him." "Very observant, ginger."
  • "I think your song must end soon." "Meaning?"  "Every song must end." Foreshadowing!

Overall:

Another good episode - I liked how the Doctor felt he owed something for the Ood because of what happened the last time he saw them. A good re-visiting of themes the old show addressed.
