Part One
1)"By Gerry Davis" - one of the co-creators of the Cybermen.

2)I like to think that the fact that the Time Ring just happened to drop them down in time to fight the Cybermen was no coincidence - just the Time Lords making further use of the Doctor.

3)I like the music in this.

4)I also like this story's version of the Cybermats.

5)Notice that the symbol on the Vogans' wall is the same one that would later be used for the Time Lords.

6)"Who's the homicidal maniac?"

7)"I've seen them somewhere before, if I could only remember where." Telos, perhaps?

8)RE: The Moons of Jupiter: "What, you mean there are now thirteen?" Apparently, Jupiter's lost quite a few over the years.

9)"Voga - the planet of gold!"

10)"They disappeared after their attack on Voga at the end of the Cyber War." Whenver that was.

11)Cliffhanger #1: Sarah Jane is attacked by a Cybermat!

12)One of the Vogans was Michael Wisher - wow, Doctor Who kept him busy that year!

Part Two
13)"The Pentallian Drive" - later referenced in "42", as I recall.

14)"Voga - the planet of motorized kayaks."

15)"It plates their breathing apparatus." I wonder about the science of that.

16)The Cybership is vaguely reminiscent of the Swinetrek.

17)"Humans are reported to have some intelligence." Since when?

18)"You have the philosophy of a cringing mouse, Tyrum!" Ah, yes, Cringing Mouseism.

19)The Vogans really aren't that good.

20)Cliffhanger #2: "All resistance overcome." "The Beacon is ours."

21)I like the idea of the Cybermen haivng gungs in their heads.

Part Three
22)I think this is the first occasion where we see a Cyberleader distinguished by having black piping on his helmet.

23)"You've no home planet, no influence, nothing! You're just a pathetic bunch of tin soldiers skulking about the galaxy in an ancient spaceship!" Little does the Doctor know that the Cybermen are taping this to play back in "Earthshock".

24)"The Glittergun"? Could've been worse - could've been the "Gary Glittergun", I suppose.

25)"Their use was banned by the Armageddon Convention." Just before it blew up.

26)""'Fragmentize'?"

27)Cliffhanger #3: Harry tries to undo the the Doctor's bomb-buckle!

Part Four
28)""HARRY SULLIVAN IS AN IMBECILE!"

29)Lester's bomb really wasn't much of a bang, considering two of them supposedly could blow up the planet.

30)"Oh, please don't call me 'human'."

31)I miss the old-school Cybermen, from when they were vindictive smartarses.

32)"My Skystriker...my glory..."

33)"It will be a magnificent spectacle. Unhappily, you will be unable to appreciate it."

34)"Cogito ergo sum." "What?" "I think, therefore it missed."

35)The rotating planet at the end reminds me of an old arcade game where you had to maneuver a dune buggy over rough terrain.

36)"The space-time telegraph" leads us into "Terror of the Zygons".

All in all, not a bad story. The special effects seem a bit dodgy, and the Vogans are a touch on the lame side, but I enjoyed seeing this again.
"21)I like the idea of the Cybermen haivng gungs in their heads."

Should read: "21)I like the idea of the Cybermen having guns in their heads."
In Invasion they could use the bulb at the top of their chestpieces as a weapon.

Revenge was heavily rewritten by script editor Robert Holmes. According to Gerry Davis, in an interview in Doctor Who Magazine #129, "As for Revenge, which was the wrong title if there was one - mine was 'Something In Space' - basically what happened was that they wanted a cheapie, so I wrote the whole thing as a sort of Las Vegas in space - long before I'd ever been there, though I've been there many times since. It was a very concentrated script. You saw quite a bit of it with the plague stuff, and it was a little like The Moonbase with the Cybermats.
"At first it was a kind of Marie Celeste space casino, with all these deserted roulette tables. The Cybermen were destroyed with the gold used there, gold being the only pure metal. Then they got more money and decided to write in a sub-plot, which I thought diffused the interest a bit."

I think the bit about a title is a reference to view that revenge is an inappropriate motivation for Cybermen. In their earlier stories they were emotionless.I take it the bit about "only pure metal" means "only pure metal available".
Hey, how'd you get and watch this so fast? I thought it was going to be available today...? I expect I will receive my copy in today's mail and will be able to join this discussion tomorrow.
The Cyberleader is the only Cyberman who speaks much, and he definitely is not emotionless. The problem, of course, is that truly emotionless characters really don't make for interesting television.

Dunno. Was there when I got home last night. I didn't expect them until today, myself.
I ordered "Revenge" and "Silver Nemesis" in the same order with "The Lost TV Episodes," and I received the latter yesterday. (I'm midway through the second episode of "Marco Polo" right now). Weird.

I don't agree there. The human characters in the story, and their conflicts, can supply the emotion. What emotion does the shark in Jaws show?

A good point.

Upon re-watching this, I note two things - One: The Cyberleader said that there would be a "secondary explosion" if they meddled with the belt buckles, and Two: The info text says the script contained a line explaining that the belt buckles were booby-trapped, but that this line neve rmade it into the final show. So, the explosion that killed Lester and the Cybermen wasn't the main Cyberbomb going off.
I think they were really top-loading the new Doctor with some pretty heavy-hitters right out of the gate: the Sontarans (a new race), the Daleks and the Cybermen right in a row… bam! bam! bam! This whole “TARDISless” series of stories goes back to The Ark in Space, though, and I don’t really remember that one all that well having seen it only once. I wasn’t too terribly impressed with Baker’s first outing as the Doctor in Robot. I felt at the time it was too closely tied with Planet of the Spiders, which is still not available on DVD. When the BBC gets around to releasing Planet of the Spiders on DVD, I really must make it a point to all seven of these stories in order.

I also like this story's version of the Cybermats.

They’re like silver flying vampire worms!

Notice that the symbol on the Vogans' wall is the same one that would later be used for the Time Lords.

I didn’t notice it but Tracy did and pointed it out to me. She wants points for that.
From what Hinchcliffe has said, these stories were inherited from the just-departed Letts/Dicks regime. He himself wasn't wild about the Cybermen.

"the Sontarans (a new race),"

Actually, the Sontarans had appeared in one previous Pertwee story, "The TIme Warrior", but they certainly weren't the established heavies they became later.

"I didn’t notice it but Tracy did and pointed it out to me. She wants points for that."

Nine billion points to Tracy. A billion for each year. ;)
