Reading a Rob Liefeld comic is an experience not unlike reading Howard Chaykin's Hey Kids! Comics!, except instead of trying to identify which comic book creators are being portrayed, the challenge is to guess which Marvel/DC characters are being "homaged." My initial plan had been to summarize it as if the characters were the ones being swiped homaged. But the "plot" for the 28-page story is pretty bare bones. Basically, the team investigates a mysterious island called "Karcosa" which just materialized in the South Pacific and find it populated by the "New Men." (Or they might be called "The Next" or "The Inheritors." Or there might be two groups. I don't know.) Of the 28 pages, two are FPPs (full-page panels) and there are no fewer than four DPSs (double-page spreads). Beyond that, the pages range from two to 6ix panels each, with the mean being 3.6 and the mode (seven of them) being 3 panels each. After the "story" (which is "To be continued," BTW), the remaining 43 pages are alternate covers dating back to 2008. the remaining page is an ad for the upcoming Badrock series.
In a way it's comforting to know that some things never change,.

Oh, Jeff, you should have known better. I know you have at least skimmed over the early issues of the 2025-2026 "Youngblood" series, which promised nothing else.

Yeah, I was trying to put a positive spin on paying seven bucks for what is essentially a book of pin-ups.

While I have never been a fan of his art/writing, I've always appreciated how he treates his fans. I've seen long lines at shows, and he has always been great to them. That I can appreciate.
