Anyone else pick up the first issue? It was okay, but I won't be picking it up monthly for certain. I may check it out the first trade when it comes out. I'm not sure yet. The story was okay (we already get an Oedipus-like character), and the art was fine. The problem was that it suffered from too many character-itis. Peter Milligan just crammed too many people into this first issue. I would have liked it to be a little more focused.

  • I picked it up, and didn't really care for it. It wasn't so much that there were too many characters, in my case, but that I just didn't care about the ones we got to know.

The art was nice, though, and I loved that one shot of the muses in full muse regalia.
  • I don't know if it's the cover or what, but mine has been laying around for awhile, and I just can't bring myself to read it.
  • I have to say, the preview pages in back of other Vertigo books didn't do much for me -- even though I appreciated that they were specially made, rather than just pages of the comic printed before the official release.

I think I'm just not a big fan of Milligan. I've liked some of his work -- loved Skreemer, way back when -- but more often than not, it just doesn't hit me exactly right.
  • The castration was a little too much for me.
