Guess who will have to learn how to turn on a microphone...again?

I start with the local FM station in November. It's much like closing a circle, in that it's the station at which I began my radio career. I'll be on the air every weekday afternoon, and be working in other departments as needed. It's small town radio, so you work where you're needed.

The best thing about it is now being home nights and most weekends. I've hardly had time to spend with J-Boy since I started the retail thing, and now that'll change...a change for the better. Photobucket

I just noticed I said "trash" where I meant to say "tracks". Just a couple of letters off, but an entirely different meaning.

Congrats, Don. Now get it streamed online so us outlanders can hear ye.

That may take some time to accomplish; the station would have to pay licensing fees for the music we play. Still, I'll see what I can do to make it happen.
So you're a DJ on a country music radio-station?

That's one of my dream jobs...

Sometimes I love to hear that Looo-oooow-oooown-some whistle whine...

That old Photobucket music... but in a good way.

Although I'm with CK's point about current Country music.

Do Hank and Johnny and Patsy get any airplay anymore?
ALL RIGHT!!!!
Congrats, Don! I was wondering if that thing you mentioned on Facebook ever went anywhere. What's the format you'll be hosting (as in a solo DJ or part of a duo to or one who will take lots of call-ins in between the songs)? In short, what are YOUR plans for the position?
I'm really happy for you.
Congrats, Don. It sounds like you are back where you belong!

It'll be solo...I'll be mixing country with classic rock and other current rock songs that fit the sound. Requests will be a big part of the show, along with call-ins from listeners, and I'll likely have a couple of regular features, though I don't know what they'll be yet. The only thing I won't be able to do yet is stream it online (dang it)!
Congratulations, Don.
So, here's an update for anybody who cares (and why am I up at 1:30 a.m. anyway? I haven't even had any caffiene today.)...

I've been back at the station for a couple of weeks now, and it gets a little better every day. It was a bit rough that first day, but now that I know where all the right buttons are, it's all smooooth.

I didn't know how the listeners would take the country-with-a-little-rock approach, but it seems to be picking up an audience; so much so that we may expand that format to other parts of the broadcast day in the future. Unfortunately, the chance of streaming is slim and none, and slim's left town. The fees broadcast stations must pay to stream music are prohibitively high. What I hope to do, once I get all my equipment together, is record a sample hour and post it as a podcast somewhere so you can have some idea of what it is I do for three hours every weekday afternoon.

Thanks for the kind words and all the support. Now I'd better get some sleep!
I missed this at the time: congratulations, Don.
Congrats! Back on the air, terrorizing the FAA*, pushing every envelope until the stamp is about to pop off! You get 'em 5 by 5, partner!

*Well, radio waves do go through the air, don't they? :D
Glad things are going well, Don... and congrats!

A podcast would be great. I'd really like to hear the golden voice of Dr. Don!
