This sounds exactly like the plot of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, released in 1998.  It also featured Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as Laurie Strode, and was billed at the time as the final Halloween movie.  Michael Myers is killed at the end of the movie, decapitated with an axe, but that got retconned in the next installment Halloween: Resurrection - and Curtis' character Strode was killed off in that one.  I wonder if this is a remake of H20?

I thought that sounded familiar!

My wife expressed interest in Winchester, having just finished the graphic novel House of Penance (which would have made a great movie).

Ever since we got together my wife has wanted to visit the Winchester House. Still haven't made it.
