  • You kids today! Harumph!

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends came along long after I had left Saturday morning cartoons behind. I have never seen an episode. But I am always cheered when someone gets a charge out of something, so have fun.

    And get off my lawn!

  • Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends was a pretty decent superhero show. It was smart and, IIRC, didn't talk down to the kids. Even this kid.

  • Was Ms. Lion in it?

  • Wasn't Firestar originally supposed to be Mary Jane getting powers then they changed their mind?

  • There's definitely a Mary Jane influence on her design.

  • That's what I remember. The Human Torch was licensed to a different company as part of the FF.

They wanted to use the Human Torch, but there were ownership issues IIRC.I am not sure if that was supposed ever be Mary Jane, but the 1980s was very big on redheads in general...

  • I have learned so much from this thread! I kinda wondered about "Friends" back in the day that Spidey's No. One superhero friend -- Johnny Storm -- wasn't in evidence.

Anybody know why Iceman was on the show? I can only think of two times offhand Iceman and Spidey met before 1981 (The X-Men #35 and Marvel Team-Up #4). There may have been more, but they weren't exactly close.

  • In the comic, I meant. I remember her from the show.

  • It's possible that they wanted that "Fire & ice" vibe whether it was the Human Torch or Firestar. Plus they had Marvel Team Up #23 to go with.

Also Iceman faced the Wall-Crawler in Amazing Spider-Man #92.
