  • Unfortunatley, I don't. That's a cool cover though.

  • What's the great appeal of this issue?  Does something important or key happen?  Or is this just to complete your collection?

(It'll never compare to the class cross over in Tales of Suspense and Tales to Astonish... drawn by Colan and Kirby. Now THAT was a fight!)

  • It don’t want it because of the Iron Man/Namor fight (although that is a great cover); I want it because it is the first, pre-Stalin salvo of the “Titan” series (Thanos, Drax, Eros, Mentor, etc.). This one features the first appearance of Madame MacEvil (a.k.a. Heather Douglas, a.k.a Moondragon). Since I was unable to find the backissue itself, I flipped through it in one of the Iron Man Essentials. I’m still willing to trade for the original. Otherwise, I’ll wait a couple of years until it’s available in MMW format.

  • Oh, I see.  I had stopped buying Iron Man about five issues before... with the appearance of the Adaptoid, though I can't recall what happens in that Gil Kane issue...

  • Isn't it interesting how they started to come up with a character, then re-name them, and change horses a couple of times in mid-stream...before settling down on a successful concept.  I see Marvel during this period doing it several times...from Moondragon to the Beast,  Warewolf by Night to Wolverine, just to name a few.

  • I bought a copy of Iron Man #54 today!

My LCS just acquired a collection comprising a box of Iron Man (including Tales of Suspense #39) and a box of Avengers (including #1-4), not to mention Amazing Fantasy #15 and Spider-Man #1 (the latter two fo which went directly to the safe deposit box).
