Legends of the Super-Heroes

Throw away your bootlegs.  It looks like this short-lived, critically-panned and not-so-fondly remembered tv show is finally getting an official release.

It'll be nice to see Mordru doing a tap dance and riding a jet ski again.

  • Just ordered mine. Thanks for the heads up, KS!
  • I'm leaning towards passing this over - I fear discovering that it actually was as cheesy as I remember it being.
  • I've seen it only once and that's what I'm hoping for.
  • My recollection is that it was not so much MST3K bad as that it was just bad. However, I may change my mind.
  • Tracy ans I were driving around weekend before last listening to the DC 75th Anniversary CD and when the music for this came on she said, "We ought to get that." She needs to be careful what she wishes for!
  • I remember seeing the two specials as a kid and, as a kid, being really embarassed by them. And the Roast was worse than the "Adventure"!

Green Lantern, seeing Sinestro's ring on a gypsy, "That ring! You know what that means?"

Sinestro (played by comedian Charlie Callas), disguised as a gypsy, "We're engaged?!"

    'Nuff Said!
  • I watched this over the weekend but I don't think this is exactly what I had seen before. I know I didn't watch this on TV as a kid, but I saw a few minutes of a VHS tape in a comic shop in the late '80s. I seem to remember the "roast" section being out of doors, with both heroes and villains at the table, including David Ogden-Steirs as the Martian Manhunter. I never even knew there was a "Challenge" section. the DVD is pretty bad, though, but not unexpectedly so. I haven't watched the out-takes and special features yet. What am I thinking of, with David Ogden-Steirs?
  • Winchester did play the Martian Manhunter, but I think it was in some "JLA" film that was never actually shown, and has only been available on bootlegs.
  • The David Ogden-Stiers as the Martian Manhunter was an unsold Justice League pilot from the 90s. It featured Green Lantern, Flash (?), Fire, Ice and a combo Golden/Silver Age Atom. I never saw it (Rao be praised) but from all accounts, it was not only merely bad, it was really, most sincerely BAD!
  • Okay, I was thinking late '80s but it could have been '90s. I saw only a few minutes of it, but yeah, it was pretty bad.

Right now I'm trying to imagine how bad the outtakes of "Legends" must be!
