Is there a tech person who can look into something? My settings say I should still receive alerts, but I did not receive the ones for posts made yesterday on threads to which I've posted.

One of the reasons we moved to the full-service host Ning several years ago was so that none of us had to lose hours or days of our lives (especially me) working on maintenance and repair issues instead of content.

Of course, everything has its downside, and we see it here. All Ning sites went down Monday and part of Tuesday, and there have been lingering problems since. Mr. Silver Age can't get on at all, for example, and several of us have been unable to post art all week. Given Ning's utter lack of transparency, we have no idea what their problem is or how long it will last.

I'm guessing that the main problem, whatever it was, has been fixed, but we have scattershot problems like yours and the ones described above. All we can do is try to fix it ourselves or put in a complaint.

Do me a favor and see if you can re-load your preferences on your home page. If that fails, then I'll put in a complaint. It's best if we can fix whatever problems we have ourselves, just for the time factor.

I had this problem recently. It went away after I complained to my email service (Microsoft Outlook/Hotmail) that they seemed to be treating the Captain Comics alert emails as spam. It has now reoccurred and I don't know if it's them or Ning. Last time I re-loaded my preferences and it didn't seem to do anything. You might want to contact your email service and see if they are treating the alerts as spam.

Now I'm suddenly back to getting the Captain Comics emails alerts. Maybe it was Ning.

My connection just returned--I was cut off just like Mr. Silver Age. So maybe Ning did something. Fingers crossed!

Likewise. Thanks for the prompt reply.

For whatever reason, I am suddenly only able to access the site via proxy.

I had a lot of trouble accessing the site last week.  So far, it's doing OK, now.

I finally got in after 3 1/2 days. I think the culprit was the changes to my ISP. Time Warner merged with Charter and begat Spectrum. I don't think Ning was recognizing Spectrum.

That could be it. I was finally able to access the site today without using a proxy and I also have Time Warner.

By the way, after exhausting other possibilities I asked Cap to contact Ning. This is probably how it got fixed.
