New reprint collection line for DC?

Looks like DC may be starting their own version of the Marvel Epic Collections.  Softcover, in color, and $20 (for you Yanks anyway!)

    22 issues in color for $20 - that is a deal. Much as I liked the Showcase Presents and Essentials collections, having the material in color is so much better. If only they would include the original house ads and letter cols.

    2 more issues than the first volume of Showcase Presents JLA, which was in black and white, and four more issues than the first two Archives (color hardcovers) combined.

    If DC is starting a new line of reprints similar to Marvel's "Epic" collections I'll be first in line to congratulate them. I have been so disappointed in DC's reprints (or lack thereof) for such a long time I can't remeber not being disappointed. I wish they'd also follow Marvel's example by not reprinting runs that have already been reprinted previously. Either pick up JLA from where the Archives series left off, or print someting different! How about some Superman from the '60s and '70s?

    Good point, Jeff. Much as I love the Silver Age Flash and would love to see a collection like this featuring him, I don't really need another reprint of Showcase #4 or Flash of Two Worlds. A "best of" type anthology might be more fitting but then you have the age old problem of subjectivity in content selection.

    I read an interview with Steve Englehart where he said that DC told him they weren't reprinting his JLA stuff because people wouldn't buy Dillin art. I would love to see those issues collected along with pretty much all the JLA stories from the 70s and early 80s.

    Collects SHOWCASE #4, #8 and #14, and THE FLASH #105-112.

    That's also the contents of the first two volumes of the Flash Chronicles series, which was softcover and in color.  Volumes were $15 each.
