THE SKY: THE ART OF FINAL FANTASY BOOK THREE (HC)

Writer/Art: YOSHITAKA AMANO

FC, 156 pages, $24.99

HC, 10 5/8" x 11 5/8"

The Sky Book Three contains Amano's sketches and paintings for Final Fantasy VII (1997), VIII (1999), IX (2000), and X (2001), depicting characters such as Zidane Tribal, Garnet Til Alexandros XVII, Adelbert Steiner, Vivi Orunitia, Amarant Coral, Queen Brahne, and many others. Bonuses include a series of silkscreen images done for Final Fantasy VIII, unreleased pen-and-ink sketches of the Gunblade, and designs for the gemlike logo of Final Fantasy IX.

Are there really sufficient numbers of Final Fantasy players willing to part with $75 to buy these three books? I can't imagine anyone who is not a Final Fantasy player being interested, but I also can't imagine sufficient numbers among the players to support three $25 books. I'm baffled how DH expects to make money on these. Maybe CapCom (or whoever) is subsidizing them, just for PR purposes.

The final chapter in the Strain Trilogy -- by Guillermo del Toro and novelist Chuck Hogan -- begins here!

That is an awesome image. Not only is the artwork excellent, but just the idea -- Roman Legionnaire vampire -- raises a zillion questions I'd love answered!

FINAL ISSUE! A bomb falls from the sky, threatening the good people of Gotham City, and Batman and the Green Hornet have just one chance to take out this deadly threat. Meanwhile, Franco Bollo, the man whose stolen stamps started General Gumm and The Joker’s current crime spree, has himself been stolen. Will this enable the terrible twosome to fly away scot-free? Or will our heroes finally save the day?

Whenever a copy editor puts "Pow! Bam! Zok!" in a headline, I point out that they're not making a clever reference to comic books (which they think are) and are instead are making a cliched reference to a 45-year-old TV show that only lasted three seasons (which really are).

Most sheepishly write a better headline.

Praise for Jeff Lemire:

"I'll gladly pick up any comic with Jeff Lemire's name on it -- and I've never been disappointed by its contents." -- USA Today/Pop Candy

"Lemire displays remarkable versatility in his craft. ... Lemire has become one of DC's top creators." -- A.V. Club/The Onion

"One of the most original storytellers around." -- Craveonline

In the tradition of the #1 New York Times best-selling original graphic novels SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE and BATMAN: EARTH ONE, DC Entertainment is thrilled to deliver the next installment in the exciting series, TEEN TITANS: EARTH ONE. Award-winning creators Jeff Lemire (JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED, GREEN ARROW, ANIMAL MAN, TRILLIUM) and artist Terry Dodson (WONDER WOMAN) reinvent DC Comics' youngest heroes, with an all-new mythos in an all-new world!

"First of all, it's a graphic novel, not a monthly serialized comic, so it allows you to tell one big story with a beginning, middle and end -- almost like a film," says writer Jeff Lemire. "My goal with the EARTH ONE books is to take superhero comics and set them in more of a real world setting. I am approaching it like I'm doing the movie version of the Teen Titans. It has to be completely accessible and also very relatable. As much as I could, I tried to make these characters real teenagers with real personalities, and [artist Terry Dodson] gives these characters so much personality."

In this new, original graphic novel, the young heroes of the Teen Titans never felt like normal kids ... but they had no idea how right they were. Their seemingly idyllic Oregon upbringing hides a secret – one that will bring killers, shamans and extraterrestrials down on their heads, and force them into an alliance that could shake the planet to its foundations!

The feeling of isolation that Victor, Tara, Joey and Gar feel is multiplied in a world where they don't live with superheroes as mentors or role models. They haven't grown up wondering if they can someday be a Superman or a Batman. They're just like us. That is, until they're not. Join them as they find out more about themselves and uncover secrets that have been long buried.

When we say "complete," we mean COMPLETE! Bobby London's take on the Sailor Man has often been overshadowed by his being fired from the strip in 1992, ostensibly for presenting a storyline that was an allegory about abortion. King Features Syndicate pulled the final three weeks of strips and daily newspapers began running reprints. Story over in mid-stream.

Now, 22 years later, thanks to the kind cooperation of the good folks at King Features, those three weeks will be included in this second volume of our series. But wait… that's not all! Turns out that Bobby London produced an additional six weeks of strips beyond the three that were pulled from syndication!

Contains ALL NINE weeks of "censored" Bobby London Popeye strips.

Collects THE BOUNCE #1-12

THE ENTIRE MIND-BENDING SAGA OF THE BOUNCE – ALL IN ONE BOOK! Experience the story as it was meant to be experienced!

Jasper Jenkins is a pretty typical 20-something -- who just happens to have gained superpowers through very surreal circumstances. When he's not hanging out and doing a lot of nothing, Jasper puts on a costume and hits the streets as The Bounce, a superhero in a world that's not used to super-powered heroes and villains. And it’s this slacker and this world that Joe Casey (SEX, BUTCHER BAKER THE RIGHTEOUS MAKER) and David Messina explore in their super-sized Image Comics graphic novel THE BOUNCE, out this winter.

Jenkins may be a slacker superhero, but THE BOUNCE is loaded with depth, as Casey and Messina explore what would make a person put on a costume and fight crime, and what it’s like for him — and a handful of other newly super-empowered -- to live a double life. Throw in some good old-fashioned superheroic action, and you have a superhero comic for the 21st century, reimagined, revamped, revved and ready to impart its secrets.

THE BOUNCE collects all 12 issues of the groundbreaking series. It will be in comic book stores on November 19 and in bookstores on December 2. At the launch of the series, writer Joe Casey talked about his creation in a mini-interview on the Image Comics website:

Tell about your protagonist -- who is Jasper Jenkins?

Jasper's a fairly normal guy in his early 20s who finds himself living a double life as a masked superhero. But that doesn't stop him from living life at his age. There's still a lot of hanging out that needs to be done. Of course, he's got a brother who works in law enforcement, so keeping his secret identity secret becomes a top priority. But that's okay, because they don't really get along anyway. But getting busted would really harsh his mellow. Meanwhile, he's got friends that he cares about; they're his surrogate family. Plus, there's a girl he's interested in ... and he met her through the Internet! So the character really has it all going for him ... a perfect example of a modern, 21st Century guy.

What about a "slacker superhero" captured your imagination?

I'm not sure if I've seen one depicted as realistically as this. As a storyteller, you pose the question, "What would it be like if you were a typical guy in your early 20s and you had superpowers?" and then you try to answer it honestly. Spider-Man did it so well for the 1960s; through its stylized storytelling, it at least felt like teenage life, especially to the kids who were reading it at the time. So for THE BOUNCE, we're going for something that feels just as authentic, but for right now. In our case, that involves a lot of hanging out with your friends, shooting the shit, getting pleasantly baked, watching TV, nightly clubbing, chasing girls, avoiding any heavy responsibility ... that's generally what we do at that age. Placing a bona fide secret superhero identity -- and all the baggage that involves -- in the middle of that is interesting to see.

Your other superhero title, SEX, explores a darker side of the superhero archetype. What aspects of the superhero genre are you highlighting in THE BOUNCE?

The fun aspects, I hope. The craziness of being young mixed with the craziness of being a superhero. No one seems to get it right any more. Kirkman's Invincible, maybe. But this is a lot more grounded than that book has been for a while, more street level stuff. There's a vibe that you get from just flipping through a comicbook when you're at the store, and we want this one to have good vibes emanating from the pages. Granted, it's a Mature Readers book, but there's a reason for that. Sometimes the idea of "fun" can get a little heady... as it does right off the bat in issue #1.

Praise for THE BOUNCE:

“The Bounce is not just a simple superhero comic and is certainly aiming for something more, allowing for a more pointed commentary on the dual lives of superheroes and perhaps our need as human beings to find a place to fit in. This theme is always lurking in the background and it colors so much of the series.” -- Matt LeMaire, The MacGuffin

“What we have in our hands is a gripping thrill-ride with enough aspects of the human spirit to make the antics of our protagonist believable. The inner workings of this journey allow the release to be quite a bit more than the mere sum of its already interesting parts. It’s a solid effort by a creative team that embraces some very out there concepts, while also keeping their tale nailed to an understandable reality.” -- Harrison Rawdin, Unleash the Fanboy

“Joe Casey has crafted an excellently intriguing and enigmatic tale that is exciting, mysterious, humorous, and very intelligently written which incorporates some terrific new ideas into familiar comic book territory. This is a series that will appeal to fans of nearly any genre.” -- Joey Caswell, Read Comic Books

In a game of hidden agendas and double espionage across parallel universes, Cas must choose an identity. Is he the decadent thief named Casanova Quinn? Or is he the top secret agent named … Casanova Quinn?

Writer Fraction is known for his metafictional winks and deft melding of genres in the mega-hit SEX CRIMINALS, and CASANOVA puts his skill at the forefront in a science fiction spy story shot through with psychedelia, with gorgeous art by renowned Brazilian artists Bá and Moon.

In January 2014, Image Comics announced that CASANOVA would return with a fourth volume, ACEDIA, co-written by Fraction and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon.

Each Complete Edition of CASANOVA collects four issues of the critically-acclaimed series in a deluxe, oversized hardcover volume, complete with covers and extra content. VOLUME 1: LUXURIA will be in comic book stores on October 22 and bookstores on November 4; VOLUME 2: GULA will be in comic book stores on November 12 and bookstores on November 25; VOLUME 3: AVARITIA will be in comic book stores on December 17 and bookstores on December 30. All are now available for pre-order.

Praise for CASANOVA, Matt Fraction, Gabriel Bá, and Fábio Moon:

Casanova is a brutally elegant fever dream of science fiction, spy movies and super-heroes, ripped through a hole in space-time specifically to blow your mind.” -- Laura Hudson, Comics Alliance

“The idea of 'Why not?' that is the spirit Fraction, Bá, and Moon capture in Casanova; a story told by creators stoned out of their heads on the possibilities that the medium provides.” -- David Faust, Sequart

“With such a wide cast and with so much going on, it’s impressive to see how much love and attention Fraction gives to every character, to every moment and to every event happening all at once. Nothing is left underdeveloped or pushed out of the way to for something better; it all feeds into itself like an ouroboros of pop-fueled pandemonium. This comic feels like the pure id of Fraction, limitless in scope and entirely open-ended from every perceivable angle.

“And good lord, Gabriel Bá is basically perfect.” -- Matthew Meylikhov, Multiversity Comics

“All a comic would have to do is say ‘Matt Fraction’ on the front for me to pick it up and feel excited about what was inside.” -- Michael Chabon, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay

LAZARUS BOOK ONE (HC)

Story: GREG RUCKA

Art: MICHAEL LARK

Cover: OWEN FREEMAN

256 PAGES / FC / M / $34.99

This prestige hardcover collects the first two arcs of the critically acclaimed and New York Times bestselling series; “Family,” which introduces Forever Carlyle and her Family as they are brought to the brink of war in a future of economic collapse; and “Lift,” where Forever uncovers a terrorist plot against her Family while another family altogether, the Barrets, take desperate measures to escape their life of poverty.

PLUS! Never-before-seen work by MICHAEL LARK and graphic designer ERIC TRAUTMANN, and exclusive world-building content. Collects LAZARUS #1-9 with four-page preview and additional content.

In the Image Comics series LAZARUS, the world has become a feudal state: a few wealthy families control all of the resources, while all other people amount to, if they’re lucky, loyal vassals or serfs. But most are destitute, unprotected and desperate — what the privileged call “Waste.” This is the world of the New York Times bestselling series by Greg Rucka (Whiteout, Gotham Central, Wonder Woman, Atticus Kodiak novels) and Michael Lark (Gotham Central, Daredevil, SCENE OF THE CRIME), which is now being collected into a deluxe hardcover edition, out in November.

The “Lazarus” of the title is Forever Carlyle, the genetically enhanced daughter of a powerful family who is charged, like all who share the title Lazarus, with protecting that family by all means possible -- and the story begins on the day she is killed.

Forever believes in her father’s love for her, but as a conflict with another ruling Family to moves toward war, she begins to suspect she is little more than a pawn in Family Carlyle’s plot to gain more power.

To writer Rucka, the dystopia he created for LAZARUS isn’t a far-fetched science fiction world; it’s plausible speculation on where our society is heading.

Influenced by the Occupy Movement, Rucka asked himself, “What would the world look like if 99% became 99.99999%? What if the 1% became the .00001%? What happens when that much wealth and power becomes that concentrated?”

Concentration of power leads to the powerful using all means to protect what they have -- and that is where Forever comes in. Regarded variably as a tool, pet, and science project, Forever must break through her lifelong conditioning to find out what and who she really is in a world that sees her as something less -- and more -- than human.

“If you ask me what the series is about, yes, it’s about this dark vision of the future, certainly,” said Rucka. “But it’s about Forever, her journey, the questions of nature versus nurture, and of power, and of corruption.”

Lark’s art renders Forever’s world in deep shadow and is heightened with moody colors by Santi Arcas, perfectly capturing the fractured, violent world of LAZARUS as well as Forever’s vulnerability and naïveté, which her deadly exterior belies.

“I’m trying to demonstrate the contrast between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots,’” said artist Lark. “Because one side has, literally everything and the other has nothing, the contrast is strong. I realize that while we in the United States haven’t seen this come to pass -- yet -- there are other parts of the world where it is already a stark reality.”

LAZARUS: BOOK ONE collects issues #1-9 of LAZARUS, plus an introduction by Warren Ellis, a four-page “Prelude”; never-before-seen work by artist Lark, cover artist Owen Freeman, and graphic designer Eric Trautmann; and exclusive world-building content.

Praise for LAZARUS:

“... one of the best ongoing series being published right now.” -- Greg McElhatton, Comic Book Resources

“This creative team has truly created a special book that demands attention.” -- Aaron Duran, Newsarama

“... brilliant serial storytelling, paired with a long view for the big picture, and pure enjoyment on every level.” -- Matt Santori-Griffith, Comicosity

“Lazarus is a gem of a book; Rucka and Lark have mastered worldbuilding, and aren't ignoring a single corner of their creation. Political drama, near-future science, and real human hopes and dreams (albeit against a dystopic backdrop) meld together in a wonderfully scripted and strikingly illustrated work.” -- Jen Aprahamian, Comic Vine

“Rucka, who’s written street-level crime sagas (Stumptown) and high-flying superheroics (Wonder Woman), settles into a satisfying and flexible niche of believability, weaving a complex story of intrigue and action in a science fiction setting that may not be fiction for long. Artists Lark and Arcas’s muted and subtle visuals ground the story as well, while handling its swift and violent fight scenes and plotted interludes with consistent skill.” -- Publishers Weekly

SAGA BOOK ONE (DELUXE HC)

Story: BRIAN K. VAUGHAN

Art/Cover: FIONA STAPLES

504 PAGES / FC / M / $49.99

At San Diego Comic-Con, Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples announced to a packed audience at the SAGA panel the November release of SAGA: BOOK ONE, the first in a series of deluxe hardcover volumes of their award-winning and beloved Image Comics series. Collecting the first three paperback volumes of SAGA, the 500-page-plus BOOK ONE will feature brand-new cover art by Staples. It will be released on November 25, 2014.

As Vaughan and Staples revealed in their Comic-Con panel, the cover of each hardcover edition will feature the series’ main character, Hazel. BOOK ONE’s cover depicts Hazel breastfeeding as an infant.

"Saga is the story of Hazel, and each hardcover edition will feature her at a different stage of life in a new cover from co-creator Fiona Staples,” said writer Vaughan. “I have no idea how Staples will top this first one, which perfectly captures our heroine's first few months in the universe. But we're even more proud of what's under the cover, 500 pages of story and never-before-seen extras, including a weirdly detailed creator roundtable about how the team makes a complete issue of our comic, from daydreaming to shipping."

Vaughan’s and Staples’ announcement came the day after they received three Eisner Awards at the annual ceremony held during Comic-Con. SAGA received a Best Continuing Series Eisner, Vaughan received Best Writer, and Staples was awarded Best Painter/Multimedia Artist.

Telling the story of a family escaping an interplanetary war, SAGA is an ongoing comic book series, released monthly by Image Comics. It has won a Hugo Award, a British Fantasy Award, and multiple Eisner and Harvey Awards. All three volumes of SAGA have reached number one on the New York Times best sellers list, and volume one has been in the top ten for more than seventy weeks. SAGA's next issue, #22, will be in comic book stores on August 27. Three trade paperback collections are now available, and SAGA: VOLUME 4 will be in stores in December.

Collects issues #1-18 of SAGA

“... a great, star-faring epic about space-crossed lovers in an interplanetary war, their baby, who has horns, and robots with televisions for heads. It is strange, sexy, funny, delightful, and probably un-filmable, certainly for grown ups, and on every page, new.” -- John Hodgman

“Vaughan’s witty dialogue is laced with universal commonalities -- the sharp fingernails of babies, burping techniques, love—that ground the alien nature of the characters and heighten the sense that the war between planet and moon and the hatred between enemies is tragically pointless. Staples’s character designs are fantastic—even the weirdest aliens reveal human emotion -- and her two-page spreads, whether of battle or of tree-grown rocket ships, are glorious.” -- Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Vaughan’s whip-snap dialogue is as smart, cutting and well timed as ever, and his characters are both familiar enough to acclimate easily to and deep enough to stay interested in as their relationships bend, break, and mend. While Vaughan will be the star power that attracts readers, do-it-all artist Staples is going to be the one who really wows them. Her character designs dish out some of the best aliens around, the immersive world-crafting is lushly detailed and deeply thought through, and the spacious layouts keep the focus squarely on the personal element, despite the chaotic cosmos they inhabit. Add another winner to Vaughan’s stable of consistently epic, fresh, and endearing stories.” -- Booklist (starred review)

“With each new issue, Vaughan and Staples top themselves in cinematic grandeur and intimate character development. By taking inspiration from issues faced by ordinary couples -- dealing with ex-lovers, finding a babysitter, meeting the in-laws -- Vaughan is able to keep the fantastic plot grounded in reality, creating characters that are instantly relatable, even though they have horns or wings.” -- Oliver Sava, The A.V. Club

“There is literally nothing I can say that will convince you of how utterly tremendous Saga looks, courtesy of artist Fiona Staples, more than actually looking at it will. Every gonzo, insane concept writer Brian K. Vaughan comes up with, Staples manages to realize on page in a way that’s never been seen before, but seems somehow authentic. But it's her character work that’s most amazing; you could take out every single word balloon and caption and still know almost exactly what’s going on thanks to the pitch-perfect expressions on the characters' faces.” -- Rob Bricken, io9.com

I don't understand the connection between Valeria and Doom. Yes, I know he helped give birth to her when there were complications in the pregnancy. Yes, I know the price he exacted for that was the privilege of naming her. (Which he did for the dead girlfriend that he killed and made a skin-suit out of. So, you know, not exactly uncle of the year, is he?)

And even if Valeria was his dead mother, so what? My middle name came from my Dad's brother, but that didn't make me race to his side as soon as I could and become his henchman. It's just a name.

BLACK WIDOW #12

Written by NATHAN EDMONDSON

Art & Cover by PHIL NOTO

This November, CNN’s own Anderson Cooper makes his Marvel Universe debut for a special, Marvel Comics only, investigative report that begs the question – is the Black Widow truly the Avenger we want? It all happens in BLACK WIDOW #12, as the world renowned journalist and news anchor exposes the tangled web of the Widow’s past discretions, courtesy of critically acclaimed creators Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto.

Though she now walks a righteous path in her quest for atonement, her past is paved with bloody memories. Though allegedly reformed, is a former KGB operative and assassin the right Avenger to protect the American people? Where do her allegiances truly lie? Those questions and more will be answered in November’s issue!

“It’s Anderson doing what he does best: looking for the truth and reporting on events,” says series writer Nathan Edmondson in an interview with Marvel.com. “We imagine that in Black Widow’s world, as would be the case with many other Avengers, things she does can’t be ignored by the media and all it takes is somebody who knows how to ask the right questions to make her world very uncomfortable for her but in a way that is perhaps not unjust.”

Currently the anchor on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360°, the Emmy Award winning Cooper has spent many years broadcasting from around the world, reporting on up-to-the-minute news and current events.

“I found that he was a comic book fan and reader and shared some of my work with him over a year ago,” adds Edmondson on his inclusion of Cooper in BLACK WIDOW #12. “Then as we were strategizing upcoming issues of Black Widow I had this idea for an opportunity to involve him directly in the book. He was thrilled with the idea.”

Once a resident of the shadows, the Black Widow’s operations have been brought into the light like never before. With the investigation into her actions underway, what will the Avengers do when they learn how she’s been spending her days off? Find out when Anderson Cooper makes his Marvel Universe debut in BLACK WIDOW #12 this November!

“It’s Anderson doing what he does best: looking for the truth and reporting on events,” says series writer Nathan Edmondson.

SPIDER-VERSE KICKS OFF A NEW ONGOING SERIES!

Dennis Hopeless (CABLE & X-FORCE, AVENGERS: ARENA) and Greg Land (UNCANNY X-MEN) bring you a universe spanning adventure starring Jessica Drew Spider-Woman and the newest spider-hero, SILK!

This November, launching directly out of Spider-Verse comes a brand-new ongoing series starring the original Spider-Woman! Today, Marvel is pleased to present your first look at SPIDER-WOMAN #1, the new ongoing series from the critically acclaimed creative team of Dennis Hopeless and Greg Land!

Jessica Drew has been many things – agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., agent of S.W.O.R.D., Avenger and so much more. She’s a hero to her very core, but nothing could prepare her for the multidimensional insanity of Spider-Verse! War has come to anyone with spider powers and they’re being picked off one by one. The supremely powerful Morlun and his twisted family will stop at nothing to eliminate every Spider-Man and every Spider-Woman in every universe.

The key to their survival may rest in the hands of Silk, the newest spider on the block, who’s on the run for her life! Who better to keep her safe than Jessica Drew? An experienced soldier, a fierce combatant, and someone who won’t quit – she’ll lead her spider platoon deep behind enemy lines on a dangerous, universe-spanning adventure if she wants to see tomorrow.

“This is the start of something very big for Spider-Woman,” says Senior Editor Nick Lowe. “Yes, it’s a big part of Spider-Verse, but this is going to be a character defining first arc for the SPIDER-WOMAN ongoing series.”

The one and only original Spider-Woman is a woman with a mission, and it will take all of her training if she wants to make it out of Spider-Verse alive. Who lives? Who dies? Find out as an all-new dimension hopping adventure explodes out of the pages of Spider-Verse in November’s SPIDER-WOMAN #1!

I'm guessing the cover at top right, by Milo Manara, isn't available after the controversy. But, you know, as much as decry the pneumatic blow-up girls in comics, the "brokeback" poses and all the other "fan service," I have to say, I didn't get too worked up about that cover.

If you're the publisher, when you hire Manara, you should expect to get Manara, and not act shocked -- shocked! -- when it's naughty. So save your press releases, Marvel. And if you're an outraged fan, well -- don't buy it. Simple.

But my main complaint is that Manara has done many, many covers for Marvel up to now, and they have all been suggestive. What made this cover one toke over the line? I just don't see where the outrage comes from, outrage that has been utterly absent so far.

One thing I really like about this Magneto ensemble is that the helmet hoods his eyes in a sinister fashion. That was always my favorite part of seeing Magneto in a comic book, and when they started drawing him with his eyes showing in the '70s -- I believe the universally beloved Jack Kirby led the charge -- it just looked stupid.

Glad to see the Master of Magnetism looking evil again!

ALL-NEW ARC! "ENTER: ARMORINES" – PART 1

ALL-NEW ARC! Enter: ARMORINES!

He survived NINJAK … he survived UNITY … but can X-O Manowar survive his first encounter with the all-new ARMORINES?

Valiant proudly presents "ENTER: ARMORINES" – a new three-part story arc beginning in X-O MANOWAR #30 by New York Times best-selling writer Robert Venditti (ARMOR HUNTERS, The Flash) and red-hot rising star Diego Bernard (Red Lanterns)!

Start reading here with an all-new jumping-on point for the series that IGN calls "fantastic, action-packed storytelling that never fails to satisfy" as X-O Manowar fires the first shot in an all-or-nothing battle against a ruthless new fighting force – codename: ARMORINES – fixated on disarming the world's most powerful weapon and eliminating Aric of Dacia once and for all.

London was attacked … Moscow was attacked … Rome was attacked …and the world blames X-O Manowar! As an international firestorm pushes the world toward war, it's come down to the bleeding-edge paramilitary unit known as the ARMORINES to neutralize the most powerful weapon in existence. The Manhattan Project started with a single atom – and, soon, the world will discover once again that biggest problems have small solutions! Enter: ARMORINES!

"The Armorines will present challenges to [X-O Manowar] that he has not faced before, challenges we have not seen in the Valiant Universe yet," writer Robert Venditti told Comic Book Resources. "It is going to be Earth-born, but it's a lot of things he hasn't faced, and in many ways, it's Aric coming from where he comes from, dealing with things that are completely foreign to him. That's the way you attack Aric -- you don't necessarily attack the armor, you attack the person inside it. What are his limitations?"

After reliving the pulse-pounding origin of the man behind the armor in October's X-O MANOWAR #0, return to the modern day and launch into X-O Manowar's first high-octane showdown with the all-new, all-deadly ARMORINES! Featuring interlocking A and B standard covers by Valiant superstar Clayton Henry (HARBINGER WARS), the next epic evolution of Robert Venditti and Diego Bernard's acclaimed sci-fi superhero saga starts right here this November in X-O MANOWAR #30!
