  • Re The Fast and the Furious franchise, I learned from my deep dive into the series that there are three more:

Better Luck Tomorrow, which featured Sung Kang as a character named Han. Kang showed up in The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift playing a character named Han, so Better Luck Tomorrow has retroactively been declared a prequel to the Fast series.

Also, there are two short films (both available on YouTube) that fill in some gaps. As noted elsewhere, The Turbo Charged Prelude for 2 Fast 2 Furious falls between the first and second movie, and shows how Brian Walker made his way from Los Angeles to Miami.

Also noted elsewhere, Los Bandoleros falls ahead of the fourth movie, Fast & Furious, showing Dom Torretto and Letty Ortiz hiding out in the Dominican Republic, and plotting on playing Robin Hood by getting a shipment of gasoline to help the community -- the heist that opens Fast & Furious.

  • Under "Harry Potter", you might consider adding the prequel films Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.  There is also a third film, as yet untitled, which was originally set for release in November 2021, filming of which has been delayed by the pandemic.  Release is currently expected in July 2022.

  • Apes - bits and pieces of the first couple.

    FF - none

    Potter  - all

    Rocky - 1 thru 4

  • Planet of the Apes: Saw the original five. Skipped the 2001 Tim Burton reboot. Saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes mainly for the great Andy Serkis, then lost interest.

Fast and Furious: Haven’t seen any. It sounds like they have actual plots and human feelings, but don’t want to make the leap.

Harry Potter: Saw them all once. Like the Lord of the Rings movies, I enjoyed the special effects and let the stories wash over me.

Rocky: Saw the first five, then stopped.

    (Concert movies not included)

I have seen only about half of these myself (the ones I own on VHS). the early ones through King Creole were all pretty good movies in their own right; the rest of them are formulaic vehicles for Elvis to sing, and are pretty much interchangeable. Great schlock, though. Where else can you find "Ito Eats" and "No Room to Rhumba in a Sports Car"? One of my college roommates had a bootleg album featuring songs from his movies and titled "Elvis' Greatest Shit" but I could not entice him to sell it to me. (I wanted it for the title alone if nothing else.)

  • Quibbling is something I do in moderation, but does an actor (Elvis) playing different characters in a succession of movies really qualify as a franchise? A cash cow, maybe.

  • Honestly, that thought never even occurred to me (although I do see your point). He may be called "Vince Everett" or "Danny Fisher" or "Deke Rivers" or "Clint Reno" but he is, always and forever, ELVIS
