Every week, one item or another in my pull and hold stands out for me above the rest in one way or another. Sometimes it’s a periodical, sometimes a graphic novel, sometimes a collection. Does that happen to you? If so, let’s hear about it here. It can be an item you’ve long anticipated or something you bought on a whim. If it’s something you were really looking forward to but ended up being a big disappointment, let’s hear about that here, too. I’ve been meaning to start this topic for a long time now, but chose today to post about something I’ve been waiting for a long time, long before it was even solicited.

SILVER SURFER EPIC COLLECTION BY STEVE ENGLEHART AND MARSHAL ROGERS

This is a favorite run of mine, but I’ve read it only twice: once as it was released, and I re-read it once after that. It came out as an “ESSENTIAL” a few years ago, but for this I held out for color.

EDIT: Most weeks I make my picks before I have read them, but feel free to choose either the books you anticipate most before you read or enjoy the most after you have read them.

Oh, man, Jimmy Olsen was the BEST!

I'm excited for History of the Marvel Universe, too, but I think I'm holding out for a collected edition.

Archie vs. Predator II is mine from this week. Alex de Campi and Robert Hack? This sequel beats the original hands-down.

PAPER GIRLS #30 (series finale)

SHAM COMICS #3

I haven't been to the shop this week yet, but I'm going to go with Green Lantern Annual #1. I don't expect Grant Morrison to disappoint me.

HISTORY OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE #2

It's Superman #14 for me this week...the first appearance of the new Legion!

I haven't been following the pre-publicity or the discussion to avoid spoilers, but I would have bought Superman #14 if I had known it featured the Legion. It's probably too late now, but I'll give it a shot.

My "Pick of the Week" is, without a doubt, MARVEL COMICS #1000. It's the only new comic I've read so far, but it's hard to imagine me enjoying anything else more.

The only new comic I've read so far is Action Comics, but I did really enjoy it quite a bit. The art isn't great, but the story makes up for it.

My pick of this week is Legion of Superheroes: Millennium. I honestly don't expect to get a lot of the LSH in it, but even an overview of the next thousand years by Bendis and some terrific artists will be a lot of fun. What's the over/under on whether we see the Atomic Knights?

Yeah, I'll go for LSH: Millennium, too.
