Hugh Wilson, who created WKRP in Cincinnati and Frank's Place, and wrote and directed the first Police Academy movie, died at age 74.

From TV Club: "R.I.P. Hugh Wilson, creator of WKRP and director of Police Academy"

WKRP was never a breakout hit, but it was consistently entertaining. Frank's Place was a wonderful, but short-lived fish-out-of-water comedy-drama that was ahead of its time.

And WKRP gave us one of the funniest TV moments of all time, in its Thanksgiving episode, as well as one of the funniest lines ever: "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

  • One of my absolutely favorite comedies. Thanks, Mr. Wilson. Rest in peace.

  • One of my favorite series. I think there was a problem with DVDs in that the very integral music played by Johnny Fever was too expensive to re-license. I agree on the Thanksgiving episode, being treated by Les Nessman as the Hindenburg disaster. I fondly remember Johnny Fever's introduction of a song by "Olivia Neutron Bomb."
