RIP Bob Hoskins

Story

I remember him best for his role in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, although I know he had a long and varied career.  I especially remember him as being one of the few British actors to be able to do a convincing American accent.

  • He had great range.

  • Here's an interesting piece from TheWrap, in the "what might have been" category: "Bob Hoskins Was ‘X-Men’ Writer's First Choice for Wolverine"

The X-Men writer they're speaking of is Chris Claremont, who was involved in a deal to make a movie of the property. His dream cast included Angela Bassett as Storm. The deal fell through, however.

  • That would have been a decided improvement, IMO.

I liked Hoskins a lot, not just for Who Framed Roger Rabbit?. He had quite a lot of range, and he was on heck of an actor.
