Story  I first became aware of him from his SNL appearances. It was later that I made the connection that he was the co-creator of Get Smart!

Me, too.

I'm old enough to remember seeing his name in the credits of Get Smart, and wondering who names their son "Buck." I half-assumed it was a pseudonym until SNL.

Anyway, loved Get Smart (I was exactly the right age for it) and his SNL appearances were usually a delight. He had a cynical sense of humor and a Harvard Lampoon perspective that I really appreciated. I'm grateful for what he gave us.

Loved Get Smart and Buck's appearances on SNL too, as well as The Graduate.  Of course, while I'd seen his name on the credits to Get Smart and I recalled his brief appearance in The Graduate, I didn't really become aware of who he was until after catching one of his guest host appearances on SNL.
