Many of you remember Dagwan from the old boards. Brian as he was known by those who shopped at his comic shop. Brian passed away sometime earlier this morning or late last night. I do not know the exact details as I just received word. Please keep his daughter in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

As many of you probably have seen on Twitter or Facebook, a memorial service has been set for Brian for Tuesday here in Tallahassee. I believe some sort of fund may be set up for the family but haven't seen any details about that yet.

There's been an out pouring of support over the past few days from Brian's online fans including many comic creators as well as his many loyal customers. He will truly be missed. This is all I think about the past fees days. It was a shock to see on Twitter that he was in the hospital. Then when I got word a day later he had passed away I was just in shock. I considered Brian a friend. I've had family members that were close to me pass away but never a friend. This is a new experience for me.

I am saddened to hear of his passing. I send my condolences to his family. Dagwan, you are missed.

Jason, I've lost family members and I've lost a few friends as well. The thing to me that is stranger than losing grandparents (and one cousin), is how strangely and unnatural it seems that they are gone. Even after you've gone through the whole grieving process and done the whole funeral vistation/service thing, mourned with his family, said your good-byes...somehow, you still expect them to be a part of your everyday life. This October marked the 18th anniversary of the death of a friend of mine. We were in college together at the time. It's weird to think that by now, we would have grown apart and just been facebook friends, but I remember for about a year after at the time, I would think I saw him walking across campus, and for a fleeting moment, somehow having forgotten the whole thing, thought, "Hey, there's Jay. Better go shoulder-bump him." A split second later, I would realize it wasn't him, and how could it possibly have been?

If they were very close to you that never goes away. I recently thought for a second I should tell my father one of his favorite movies was on tv. Lost him in 2001.

I went to Brian's memorial tonight. It was a very nice ceremony. Basically anyone who wanted to got up and said a few words about him. There were a lot of folks there. Many were customers. Brian had a knack for making everyone who walked in the store feel welcomed. He'll truly be missed.

It's pretty evident that Brian will be missed in Tallahassee. His shop was inviting to EVERYONE. There are 3 other shops and while they're decent it's just not the same.

Though Brian hadn't been on the board much in the past few years he respected and cared for all of you. I'd give him updates occasionally of what was happening. I know many of you still communicated with him on Twitter. In case you're wonderkng he was the same in person as he was online. Some people take on a different persons when online, not Brian.

I will let you know if and when a fund is set up For some sort of donation. I know many locally want to see that his daughter is taken care of.
