Perhaps best known here for Space Ghost and Blue Falcon. Also played Namor on Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and Batman in one episode of The New Batman Adventures "Well done, old chum!" And a lot more (including turning into a dinosaur at the end of a PBS special on dinosaurs. His catchphrase was "You never know what you can do until you try."

I forgot he was the voice of Space Ghost.
In the 1970s he MC'd the San Diego Con Masquerade for two years running. At the time it was held in a local theater. He was just as great as you can imagine.
...Associating to LAUGH-IN , last nite a Letterman bit about " Obama's not the only President to be a comedian " showed the Richard Nixon " Sock it to ME ????????? " clip (Gerald Ford introducing SNL too .) .
I remember seeing that , when it first showed...I seem to recall that it was immediately followed by a fast cut of someone recieving a pie in the face , giving you the impression that RMN had taken one " for the team :-) .
He really tried to get people to like him, didn't he? But even Laugh-In couldn't make him popular.

On the other hand, he was popular enough to get elected to the Presidency---twice!---and the second time, by a landslide.
I still remember the headline on my local newspaper the day after that election: "NIXON SWEEPS 49 STATES"
Which one did he lose?
My home state - Massachusetts. There were lots of "Don't Blame Me, I'm From Massachusetts" bumper stickers around when I were a lad.
...Quite true .
I've heard it pointed out , though , that his first winning election , '68 , marked the lowest electoral college margin by a winner .

...A boo-boo here .
I should have written " popular " . As in vote .
Nixon '68 received the lowest percentage/margin/plurality (proportionate) of any winner in the POPULAR vote .
The number of votes needed to win the EC has not changed since 196o (the year of my birth) , of course , and bar a new state or Constitutional change , will not now .
