  • At least they still have a human playing R2D2, following the long run of the late Kenny Baker.

If the movies go on long enough, there will be actual droids playing the part.

  • If the movies go on long enough, there will be actual droids and virtual actors playing ALL the parts!
  • Kinda weird, I never really thought of the man in the suit that much. Still as the first he has a special place in movie history.

  • How long before movie studios produce on-going film series with virtual versions of the actors that first made them popular. Virtual Sean Connery back as Bond. A young, virtual Harrison Ford returns for Indy V  etc.

  • If/when they try making a movie with a CGI version of a famous actor it will depend on public reaction. Like anything else, if it makes money they'll do more of it; if not, they won't. So far we have had Andy Serkis playing the lead in the recent Planet of the Apes movies and Gollum in the Lord of the Rings movies. A CGI Billy Crudup played Dr. Manhattan. The only true CGI humans I've seen so far were the young Carrie Fisher and the resurrected Peter Cushing in Rogue One. If they did this with the lead character(s) it might be a harder sell.
