Mind the Gap seems to be once a year now. Anyone know why?
Some of these covers are so ugly I can't even imagine anyone wanting to see what the contents are like.
Both Image and IDW are really terrible at meeting their deadlines and/or schedules. Neither seems to consider the official publishing schedule -- "monthly" or whatever it says in the indicia -- seriously. Evidently, the book comes out when the creative team turns it in.
I don't mean that as snark; it is what it is and I'm stating it plainly. And books speed up and slow down accordingly. Morning Glories used to come out every six months or so, but now it seems to be coming out a bit faster than monthly. There are a couple of books, and I can't remember them for obvious reasons, that seem to come out annually or twice a year or so even though they are officially monthlies.
Now, you might know that already, and might be asking for a specific reason for a specific book, because those exist also. Everything by Francesco Francavilla, for example, was badly delayed for about a year when he was in a serious car wreck. So you might be asking about that.
And if you are, I have no answer. There is no specific reason I know of that Mind the Gap has slowed down production. All I can offer is that it's an Image book, which means it comes out when it comes out.

I had another look for news on Mind The Gap. The most recent thing I could find was a tweet from creator Jim McCann in September, 2014 promising news and saying he was writing. His Twitter page background used to the diagram from the book (the one on the wall with photos and lines depicting relationships). Now the background on his page is different, but he's still using a MTG character as his Twitter icon. So he apparently hasn't given up on the series, but it certainly has been a long hiatus.
