Oh, no! I'm so sad to hear this. Stan Freberg Presents: The United States of America is one of the best comedy albums of all time...I want to fly the flag at half mast and sing the Rumplemeyers Horseshoes jingle for him.
ME-TV was running his pizza roll commercial with Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels a couple of years ago but it disappeared after Cozi-TV started playing the Lone Ranger.
Someplace I think I still have a recording of his St. George and the Dragonet. I heard his versions of Sh-Boom, Heartbreak Hotel, and The Great Pretender years before I heard the real versions.

When I got The Very Best of Stan Freberg CD for Christmas one year, I played it incessantly, to the point where my son called it "the funny CD." I was grateful to have all three of his Dragnet bits -- "St. George and the Dragonet," "Little Blue Riding Hood" and "Yulenet (Christmas Dragnet)" -- in one place.
He mocked political correctness back in 1957. It's gotten much worse since then.

Several years back , when Wondercon was still in San Francisco , I saw him , interviewed my Mark Evanier?? , there .
He was with a same-named female to looked facially similar , I thought it was his daughter ~ Um , it was his wife ! I guess people DO tend to grow simlar-looking over a marriage ! Glad I didn't say " daughter " to him :-- - Phew !
(Yes , she was considerably younger , single digit-aged?? when " St. George " came out , that came up during it ~) I saw the Ann Miller great American Soups commercial on a big screen ! There's a Johnny Legend compilation called something like?? " TV In Acidland " (Just more " general weird/oddball TV stuff " with a would-be franchise name on it , not so much a " hippie-era " assortment/grouping of explotation stuff like a certain DRAGNET episode I've heard of :-) .) that has a lotta Freburg commercials on it , IIRC .
