Stormwatch #1: Initial Reaction

Another impulse buy - alhtough this was one of the "runners up" on the list of four books I had considered looking at out of the "New 52".

It's so-so. I've always felt that Cornell was a bit overrated as a writer.  He has interesting ideas sometimes, and can occasionally produce some good dialogue, but overall his stuff just doesn't gel for me. Having read the first issue, I find that these characters - in the way that they're presented - don't make me want to read about them.

That said, the art's real good. Sepulveda is a goos artist.  With any luck, he'll get put on something well-written, eventually.

  • I agree with you on the art, but I wanted more from the story than I got this first issue. I don't know if I'll be back for #2.
  • I liked this one enough that I'll be back.  I'm a big Manhunter fan, and I loved both Cornell's MI-13 and Ellis and Hitch's initial Authority run.  That gives this enough credit for me to see where it's going.
  • I never read Stormwatch in the "Old 52" and didn't figure this was the time to start.
