Tattoos ?????

Have you ever seen , heard about , or had upon you a comics/related-concept as a tatoo ?

What comics concepts have you seen as tats ?

Mostly " macho/bad girl "-ish things like Vamirella , or Lady Death , or - what ws that Warsaw Pakt-era hezh character that Billy Idol had as a tat ? Valentinia ?

Methinks that , much of the time , one would have to make a copy of the specific pose or the specific character you want and bring it to the tattoo , uumm , " store " !!!!!!!

  • A lot of Terry Moore's fans have tattoos of his characters. He used to run photos sent in by readers on the letters pages of Stangers in Paradise.

Not exactly what you were asking about, but Realworlds Superman told the story of a small-time convict who had the "S"-shield tattooed on his chest (in the wrong colors!) on his chest against his will, and how that, in turn, affected his life.

  • I liked that story. But then, it was drawn by the great José Luis García-Lopez, so how could I not like it?

  • My favorite Realworlds was the "Batman" one, by the equally great Marshall Rogers.

  • A friend of mine and his wife both have a Jhonen Vasquez character tattooed upon their bodies. Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Squee respectively.

James O. Barr lives around here, so I've seen a ton of Crow tats at conventions.

  • I thought of gettina tattoo of Harvey's character,Buzzy the Funny Crow!!!!!!!!!:-)

  • .Inver read none of those Realworlds? How werethey?

  • I read all four of them.

I liked Batman best (about a mentally retarded adult man with a Batman fixation).

Second was Superman, as discussed about.

Third I liked JLA, which was about four adults who were snobs and bullies in high school. They were send JLA costumes and invited to a party thrown by one of their victims. Or something.

The Wonder Woman one was about the star of a McCarthy-era Wonder Woman TV show.

I haven’t read any of them more than once, not even the Batman one.

  • Okay,tahnk you. :-) They only one-shots,not a book collection of 'em?

  • I don't think the superman S is all that uncommon, but It's more likely on the forearm or shoulder.

I can't think of anyone who would want it across their chest...

  • ...Did Shaquille O'Neal have one ?????????
