To help us appreciate comic book art I'd like to start a sort of forum game. Respond to this post with a "GIVE ME AN ARTIST!" message and I will will assign you a comic book artist.

RULES UPDATE!

I'll list an artist and everyone who wants to join in can do so! When I list an artist, you have 24 hours to post an image before we move on to the next one.

It doesn't matter if you don't know their work; just Google the artist and choose an image of the one you like most, and add it into this thread. Try not to repeat images someone else has posted.

I'll urge you to make comments about your post and others people have posted.

Wow. I just love his Captain Marvel. He's styled perfectly!

So aside from the Joker, who was the villain in the Hulk Vs. Batman story? Did Marvel have a representative?  And how did the Joker manage to avoid being pulverized by the Hulk?

As noted here, Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez "set the standard for how DC heroes should look. Seriously; in the '80s, he drew all the model sheets for DC artists, and was the go-to guy for all DC merchandised things like calendars, posters, covers, ads, toys, etc." Examples from the DC Comics Style Guide to be found here and here and here.

A really striking image is this one, from the cover of the Batman vs. The Hulk tabloid:

..

As it says on the cover, the other villain was the Shaper of Worlds - a Marvel character that I'd never heard of before I read that crossover.

Hah, I didn't even read the blurbs. What an odd choice for a Marvel villain. I know he debuted in the Hulk, but kind of weird considering the many other options.

I'd never heard of the Shaper of Worlds, either, and I don't think I've seen him in a story since.

From the story, he was one of those insanely powerful cosmic types, like the Grandmaster, but his schtick was terraforming worlds. Look here for a description of the plot.

The Shaper of Worlds needed The Joker in part because was dry of ideas -- and who could come up with more bizarre ideas than The Joker?

(By the way, I found that image here, if you're looking for more wonderful José Luis García-Lopez work. I love that page from Superman #340. I also like the pinup of Dr. Jenet Klyburn.)

I'll take another go, LJ.

The Joker is possessed with the gift of gab:

As the saying goes, -- don't ask, just buy it!

Since he asked for another, I'm sending Jason out deep!

Jason ... you get Ramona Fradon!

I've never heard of her. Let's see what google turns up...

Alright, she's famous for her work on Aquaman and Metamorpho. I like her style.

Ramona Fradon also did a Plastic Man series in the 1970s, which is where I first encountered her work. Also, for many years she was the artist on the Brenda Starr comic strip.

Super Friends, as well!

Travis you get Joe Stanton!

I'll play!

John Dunbar, you get June Brigman!

I knew June Brigman was well known for Power Pack.  I like this one.
