Premie:

In a universe in which superheroes exist, superheroes start to embrace their dark side and begin to unleash rampage throughout the earth. Now retired Vigilantes with no powers have to stop these heroes from destroying the world.

Cast:

  • Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, the leader of The Boys. He has a disdain for superheroes who use their influence to avoid repercussions.
  • Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell, a man who joins The Boys after his girlfriend Robin was killed by A-Train, and is suffering posttraumatic stress disorder.
  • Antony Starr as John/Homelander, the patriotic leader of The Seven. He is Vought's all-American icon, but hides an Übermensch mentality about how the world should be run.
  • Erin Moriarty as Annie January/Starlight, a light-emitting superhero and newest member of The Seven. Annie honestly wants to help people and tries to maintain herself amidst her coworkers. She slowly develops a romantic connection with Hughie, unaware of his vigilantism with The Boys.
  • Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, a long-time member of The Seven now suffering from burnout. She is also Homelander's ex-girlfriend, and she knows of his true character.
  • Jessie Usher as A-Train, speedster member of The Seven. Having killed Robin while on Compound-V to deliver a package, A-Train doesn't even remember Hughie during their close calls, and does whatever he can to maintain his reputation as the number one speedster.
  • Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, A member of The Boys. A polite, well-spoken man of higher education and integrity, even bringing discipline to youths in JDC, who is intensely in love with girlfriend, Monique.
  • Chace Crawford as Kevin/The Deep, the self-proclaimed King of the Sea and member of the Seven.
  • Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, a French member of The Boys. A mercenary skilled in munitions, ordinances, infiltration, and communications. He hates Mother's Milk, but works with him as they both want to kill the Seven.
  • Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko/The Female, a brutal and mute member of The Boys.
  • Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir, a superhero in a full black costume and member of The Seven.
  • Elisabeth Shue as Madelyn Stillwell, the Vice President of Vought International. Stillwell is manipulative and controlling of those around her.

I am a a big fan of the comic(as I am of anything Garth Ennis writes)

I was very pleased with the job Amazon did especially the cast.

I was wondering if any member of this site read the comics and/ or will watch the show.

It is very mature and graphic and I do not recommended it for young viewers.

Thank you.

Yes, I'm a huge fan of the comics.  I'm hoping to binge on this soon and will post some comments.

Nice summary, Thomas. As it happens, i have already binge watched the show and am reading the third trade as we speak! I’ll have moreto say after I write my column this week. Guess what it’s about!

Hadn't even heard of the comic when, while visiting with a friend of mine, he suggested watching it and we watched a few episodes that night and the others last Tuesday.  My friend, by the way, is 64, never read comics but loves superhero films & tv shoes.  Great series.  Based on the Captain's column, I know the tv shows veers quite a ways from the comics but I'm intrigued enough that I'll likely eventually get the collections to check them out for myself.
