(i)Cured of a debilitating  illness by the unorthodox methods of the mysterious Doctor John Smith and Nurse Josephine Grant,  Beth March became a leading campaigner for women’s rights, and the driving force behind the successful effort to get women the vote in time for the 1880 Presidential election. Married to an uncle of famous Yale alumnus  Frank Merriwell, she went on to become the United States’ first female President.

(ii)From the manga Eagle: The Making of an Asian-American President.

(iii)This list was originally drawn up in about 2003, before I’d even heard of Obama. Because I wanted to keep Yamaoka in there, when I revised it, I moved Obama’s terms a bit.

(iv)formerly the super-heroine Clobber Girl, Simpson was the USA's first super-human President.

(v)that the Great Disaster occurred shortly after Stewie became President is perhaps not coincidental.

  • Steve Rogers was never President? *sob*

    What about

    • Bluto from Animal House
    • Richie Cunningham
    • Carly Shay

Points if you know why these three!

  • I can't see Steve wanting to be President, The job would put too many limits on him.

    Never seen Animal House.

Didn't think of Richie Cunningham. Probably he ran for President, but when the fate of his brother Chuck became a campaign issue, he didn't get elected.

I had to look up Carly Shay, I'd never heard of her.

  • Bluto, the John Belushi character, was revealed to have become a senator so...

When Mork from Ork first appeared on Happy Days, he jokingly referred to Richie's future as "Mister President". Actually I could see Richie working for The Daily Planet in the 60s, just to see the Fonz meet Superman!

Carly Shay from iCarly was told by a visitor from the future/mental patient (played by The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons)  that she would one day be the Vice-President. I was struck by the parallel with Happy Days when I saw it with my niece!

  • Something was really weird about Chuck. In a later episode Marion stated she had raised two children. So they'd gotten to her too, whoever "they" were.

That was Mork's second appearance. His first was when he captured the Fonz.

Definite comic book connections to Animal House. The dean was Tony Stark, Prince Namor, and Glenn Talbot.

  • John Vernon also did the voice of Doctor Strange with George Takei as Wong in one of the SPIDER-MAN cartoons!

  • The one with Hans Conried as the Chameleon? Namor was in that one so it's odd he didn't pick that part up again.
